I needed a needle to help thread drawstrings in my tall and skinny son's shorts and sweatpants. This works well.

My son untied his brothers glove, this was an easy fix and the thickness of it was great. The price was good and quality great.

It was time to replace the laces on this 1983-84 McGregor. It has been through several hundred games but I've always taken care of it. Thus, it was worth it to replace the laces, but not at the prices the local guys charge, let alone the prices the online guys charge + shipping. This tool is money well spent! For less than half the price the local guys charge, I have a re-useable tool and enough laces (bought separately) to re-do 2 gloves! One thing to note is that there are YouTube videos but an awful of them of are not very helpful because they're just advertisements. I highly recommend getting a couple of pair of hobby size needle nose pliers--one straight, one bent--to help with this process. You'll hear mixed messages about threading the needle, but I did end up cutting the end of the leather lace down to a roughly 1/2" long taper. You can use an X-Acto knife or extremely sharp scissors to do this. Lay the lace flat, start at one end and cut from the corner to a spot on the other side, about 1/2" along. The tool has an internal thread and this is the key. Once you've made your cut, put the tapered end into the tool and (pliers can help here), holding the lace near the end, push the lace into the tool while turning the tool in a clockwise direction. This effectively threads the lace onto the tool. You can test it with a yank to see if it's tight. Then, pick the section of the lacing you're going to redo and undo the knot. MAKE SURE YOU PUT A KNOT AT THE FREE END OF YOUR NEW LACE and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A KNOT IN ONE END OF THE OLD LACE! The knots will keep it from pulling through unexpectedly. Then carefully loosen the old lace and note its path. The easiest thing to do is to pull the OLD lace through a couple of holes at a time and simply follow the old lace with the tool. Here's where the knot will be handy: pull the new lace through each set of holes all the way, carefully making sure it's flat and turned in the right direction. You don't need to make it too tight, but it's a lot easier to flatten now than when you're done and you also won't get kinks. Take your time. An H-pattern pocket like this one is actually three (3!!!) different laces. The tool is not too long for the tight sections of the wrap at the top and it is just long enough from the return through the wrap back to the thumb. In a couple of places I needed the pliers to PUSH the tool--do not pull because you can crack the tool or score it--through a couple of the longer sections. Top tip: soaking the laces overnight in shaving cream with lanolin and rubbing it in made the laces just soft enough to be a little more easily threaded through. Once you've got the lace completely through, figure out which direction you want to tighten, fix one end, carefully tighten one section at a time, tie a knot, and trim. You'll probably be adjusting it for a little while as the glove settles and the laces stretch a little, depending on the leather you bought. Enjoy. 5 Stars! Definitely a great purchase!
