My kid is a pitcher and I catch her sometimes in the backyard. The velocity has gotten faster as they grew up and the sting when the pitch hits your palm can be painful. Have to be careful to catch the ball in the basket of the glove but sometimes you have to catch it where you can. This thumb guard will come in handy for pitching practice. It slides onto the thumb and goes down to the palm and just slip your glove over it . The silicone seems as it will absorb some of the hit to relieve the stress on your catching hand. The silicone is thick and stretchy and will fit many sizes. Definitely recommend for catching practice!

My daughter liked it but it would move a lot. I should have gotten her a smaller size, if it were available. It did help. My player is 14u fastpitch.

I broke my left thumb a few weeks ago and ordered this in hopes that it would help stabilize and protect my thumb as it healed, but the fit is rather loose and awkward, and I know that it's not intended to fix a broken thumb but rather to just protect the thumb while playing sports, I didn't like it and thought it should be more tight on the thumb so you don't have to keep adjusting it. That's the only thing I can say I didn't like about this thumb guard, as I bought it for the wrong reason.

Fits well under a glove and is somewhat soft so it can move with the thumb. Better than hard plastic.
