This paper works so well for my pastel paintings! The paper is nice and stiff, but easy to cut to size.

I'm a beginner so I don't know much about pastel sandpaper but I find this product to work well for me and price is reasonable.

This is excellent pastel paper. It holds many layers and is archival. I love the gray as a starting middle tone foundation so I can begin filling in darkest and lightest values right away to help the composition take shape.

I did not like this as much as I like the U-ART paper. This is 320 grit, but feels much finer, almost like 600 or 800. I only know because I bought a sample pack of the U-Art where they have like 6 different grits to compare. I have used several brands, and one of my brands is no longer available, but I think I'll be using U-Art mostly. There are, however, many wonderful qualities to this paper. It is high quality, thick, smooth, well done, not at all cheap looking, is expensive looking, has some durability in terms of scrubbing and takes a lot of layers. It's very dark charcoal, and that could be another thing that I don't prefer, since I was used to using either white or cream colored, and it just makes the whole painting brighter, truer to color, think about it, if you want the background light, you are basically going to have to add every layer of it, you can't fall back on the light paper.I also put down an underpainting with quite a bit of alcohol, and it didn't buckle, I was not super heavy with it though, plus I live in Arizona and things dry quickly here, esp. in the summer (now.)All that said, hope it's helpful, but although I'm not a beginning artist by any means, I am a beginner to this medium for the most part, and am experimenting with materials, so I cannot offer you expert advice. I used several types of soft pastels on this paper, including, and mostly, Sennelier and Mussini pastels, and Rembrandt. It is worth the money, I think, which is why I tried it, as it is one of the more affordable ones. If you want to pump out a lot of art on a fairly high quality piece of sanded paper, this is worth experimenting with, and for what it is, I will give it five stars, but it's still not my favorite for my purposes.
