We originally bought the Owlet monitor for my sister after the heartbreaking loss of her first baby due to a heart defect. To ease her mind during her second pregnancy, we purchased this £400 foot alarm, hoping it would provide her with some peace of mind. However, she ended up not using it, as she didn’t trust it, so we decided to use it for our newborn son to alleviate our own fears—especially with the lingering trauma of my sisters first baby’s death.Our situation was unique: my husband and I had our son through surrogacy. As a gay male couple, having one baby was a miracle for us, so we wanted to take every precaution to ensure his safety, particularly given our fears of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). We’ve used the Owlet every single day for nearly a year since his birth.To say I regret ever purchasing it is an understatement.In the beginning, we followed the instructions carefully, using the Owlet 24/7, only removing it occasionally for charging. The first false alarm, which indicated low oxygen levels, was terrifying. We rushed to check on our baby, even consulting nurses to see if it was a real emergency. It turned out to be a false alarm, but that experience repeated itself many times in the first few months. Our anxiety grew to the point where we took shifts to stay awake and monitor him 24/7 for the first month. Eventually, we limited the use of the monitor to nighttime only.In addition to the frequent false alarms, the biggest issue we faced was connectivity. Despite having excellent internet and placing the Owlet’s base station just a few meters from where our son slept, the connection would drop constantly—sometimes for over 10 minutes. We would sit there anxiously staring at the screen, waiting for it to reconnect, even zooming in on the baby monitor to check his breathing ourselves. Any slight movement of his foot would cause the monitor to disconnect, triggering yet another wave of anxiety. This happened daily for nearly a year. (To add, our mobile phones would have perfect full signal on the other side of the house, but the owlet base station would struggle to keep a single meters away.)The Owlet is designed to provide peace of mind and reduce stress for parents, but for us, it did the exact opposite. It heightened our anxiety and caused countless sleepless nights. Although we continue to use it—because something feels better than nothing—I look forward to the day when I can finally smash the device with a sledgehammer.I would strongly recommend looking into alternative solutions. But if the Owlet is your only option, know that while it’s better than nothing, it’s far from perfect.

Très stressés a l'arrivée de bébé car ne voulait dormir que dans les bras et beaucoup de remarques de la part de tous les professionnels sur la mort subite du nourrisson, nous n'avons plus beaucoup dormi alors que bébé faisait ses nuits a partir de 1 mois. .. offert par mes parents, nous avons adopté rapidement le système. A priori cela fonctionne très bien, après attention la portée entre le socle et la chaussette est réduite dc impossible de mettre la chaussette au bébé dans sa chambre et le socle dans la chambre parentale, il reste l'appli sur téléphone mais attention d'avoir de la batterie et de ne pas être en silencieux. Nous commençons a espacer les nuits d'utilisation car bébé dort dans son cododo et nous ne voulons pas tomber dans une psychose, de plus a force d'être utilisé la partie capteur finit par avoir un pli qui peut laisser une marque sur le pieds de bébé ce qui n'est pas super !

Das System hat uns absolut überzeugt. Allerdings hat sich unsere Smart Sock nicht mit dem Internet verbunden. Auch nachdem wir die Kanäle getrennt haben. Da wir noch ein anderes Produkt da hatten, haben wir keine weitere bestellt. Bei einem weiteren Kind würden wir den Versuch nochmal starten.Die Rücksendung wegen der Fehlfunktion war problemlos.

I’ve been using the owlett for my baby since birth to now 4 months so far. As a very anxious new mum I’ve found the owlett extremely reassuring, it’s not recommended by healthcare professional but as a nurse for a pretty long time, the technology is exactly like pulse oximetry in the hospital and gives a very accurate pulse and spo2 reading. I found that it alarms between 15-30 seconds when I remove it and I can’t really relax unless my baby has it on at night. The 2 negative things i would say is I would like it to alarm at 90% ideally and not 80%, 80% is extremely hypoxic for a baby so you would want warning before you reached that low so you can act on it… and the fact it doesn’t alert you unless it’s below 80% really worries me, similar the pulse rate gauge is also a bit of key… and I think that’s a bit of a design flaw that hopefully in the future the threshold may be smaller for receiving alarms…. The other thing is the foot sock to buy online is extortionate it’s about 70 quid for literally a scrap of material… my little one has already out grown the baby sock and is on the next size up… but preempting I found the price very high for what you get… other than that I am so grateful to have the owlett

Leider werden immer wieder Teile der Nacht nicht aufgezeichnet. Eine Reklamation ist auch nicht möglich. So macht dieses Gerät keinen Sinn.

Nach 3 Monaten, komplett defekt! Einfach nur Müll das Gerät. Kein Verbindung mehr ! Es geht einfach nichts mehr. Und es ist nie runtergefallen oder sonst unsanft behandelt worden. Ich hoffe es kauft keiner mehr !!!!

Das Gerät ist an sich super auch der Gedanke dahinter aber wenn das Handy leer ist, ist der Gerätealarm sehr leise bzw hat es wohl zu hohe Töne für Menschen mit Eingeschränkten hör Vermögen...Nach den dritten versuch hatte ich dann auch die richtige Socke 👍

I had to return this as a family member bought one as a gift. We have the same model tho. Our wee one landed in the childrens hospital for 5 days. She turned blue and her oxygen levels were below 80%. After numerous tests they had no answers other than “one of those things “. They advised against us buying this as it may cause us more stress. Our GP however recommended it. It’s expensive but absolutely worth the money. So far we’ve had it a week and her oxygen levels haven’t dipped but it has allowed us to sleep with peace of mind. Highly recommend and after researching it it’s FDA approved. Definitely worth the money

No nos convenció porque se desconectaba con el movimiento de nuestro bebé. Además no registraba los patrones de sueño.No merece la pena por el precio
