And while there are still clearly limits as to how much were allowed to explore, theres nonetheless a lot to absorb.
Among the many areas covered in the programme are overseas visits, banquets, parties, and the assorted duties of the Queen. But also, Monarchy: The Royal Family At Work takes us behind the scenes at Buckingham Palace, and interestingly spends some times with the younger members of the Royal Family as well. Some of the visitors and other high profile figures who crop up are also of curiosity.

The DVD is not compatible with any of our 3 DVD players. I requested to return the DVD and have not heard back as to where I return it. Unfortunately, since I am unable to return the DVD because no one ever informed me where or how to return it, I feel like I got ripped off.

Für Fans der Royal Family würde ich sagen fast schon ein muss. Es werden Blicke hinter die Kulissen gewährt und erklärt wie das Familienunternehmen "Monarchy" in England funktioniert. Allerdings ist ganz klar, dass dieser Film von den Beratern der Royal Family abgesegnet wurde. Die Grenzen, was der Zuschauer sehn darf und was nicht, sind klar abgesteckt (was auch gut ist) und natürlich erscheint alles sehr positiv. Dennoch macht es einfach Spaß diese Serie anzuschauen und einen Blick hinter die Tore des Buckingham Palastes zu werfen.

Schon im Jahr 2007 habe ich diesen Mehrteiler interessiert verfolgt.Es wird das Leben und der Alltag der britischen Königsfamilie näher gezeigt.Natürlich ist klar, das jede einzelne Minute abgesegnet ist, aber was macht das schon. Ich fands schön anzusehen, wie eine waschechte Queen sich in voller Robe und mit Krone auf dem Kopf über ein Geländer im Palast lehnt und sich darüber amüsiert, das die Frau eines Botschafters oder Staatsoberhauptes den Personallift benutzen muss um ins obere Stockwerk zu kommen. Oder wie ein Präsident Bush in seiner Empfangsrede davon spricht, das die Queen schon seit über 200 Jahren die Weltgeschichte erlebt, sich dann des Fehlers bewusst wird und die Queen unsicher lächelnd ansieht und sie dies mit mütterlichem milden Blick übergeht. Das nenne ich wahrlich königlich amüsiert.Fazit: Der Mehrteiler ist unterhaltsam und nett anzusehen. Eine Queen ist auch nur ein Mensch. Aber die Queen wäre nichts ohne ihre Familie, die hinter ihr steht. Und auch die machen ihren Job recht gut.

A very interesting BBC Fly-on-the-wall documentary series looking at the British Royal Family and how they spend their lives in public service.The BBC at the time of filming were give unprecendented access to the Royal Family and as such makes this series very interesting as it reveals the often glossed over human side of the public persona's.The episodes look at different aspects of the family's life and are as follows:-1 The State Visit-2 Headquarters-3 Head of State-4 The Queen and us-5 Inside the FirmAll said very interesting and worth the incredibly cheap price Amazon is now selling this at.

`Monarchy' is an outstanding 5 part BBC series that gives us an inside view of the royal life. This looks at many aspects of royal life and follows the Queen as she travels to America to meet the President (George Bush at the time), hosts various teas, lunches, banquets and balls in the UK (and shows the meticulous detail that goes into the preparation), the various investitures she presides over, her state opening of parliament, her visits to charities, the opening of various buildings and sites and her assorted other duties. This also looks at the other key members of the royal family and what they get up to as well. It is fascinating to see how they live and work and you will be touched at numerous times at how down to earth they are and adept at their various roles. You will also be left gob smacked at the pomp and ceremony of various events and will appreciate the heritage and meaning behind many state events. This gave me an insight into royal life that has previously been unavailable and if the Queen wanted to open her self up to her subjects then this achieved that goal superbly. The palaces and stately homes are stunning, the costumes are impressive and you can't help but feel a swell of patriotism in your chest when you see how reverred and respected the Queen is abroad. There is also an additional bonus footage section that shows some elements that were cut from the original broadcast. All in all this is a fascinating look at the royal family and shows what they do for the country. Si vous aimez les Royals, un document passionnant & de qualité.Attention cependant, pas de ST. Donc il vaut mieux de débrouiller en anglais !
