The cords provided do not work for D3400. I purchased a micro USB to aux cord to test to see if that would make it work since the D3400 only has micro usb and hdmi plugs. Not sure if the new cord will work yet, if not then I will have to return both the cord and the shutter release remote.

I ordered this to work with a Nikon D5300 that I bought to use for digitizing negatives with a macro lens on a copy stand setup. I like the wireless capability better than a wired shutter release, and this set works fine on my camera. I think it seems a little costly, but overall I am happy with it.The construction of the remote and transmitter housings are a bit on the lightweight side, with the battery cover on the transmitter not inspiring a lot of confidence - it fits pretty loosely. The batteries themselves do fit securely, but none were included. You'll need (4) AAA cells total, two for the remote and two for the transmitter. The channels are set with little DIP switches, and I did not need to change them in order to get things up and running, everything just worked out of the box.I do appreciate that both the remote and transmitter include power switches, hopefully this will help with battery life. Cables are included that will work with almost all models of Nikon DSLR and Mirrorless cameras, and the fit of the cable with the camera port was nice and secure.I wish the housings (especially the one for the remote) were made of a little heavier plastic considering the cost, but since I don't intend to use them in the field they are going to work fine for my needs. My main goal was to just eliminate vibration when tripping the camera shutter, and this set works great for that.
