I got a 80% discounted one, presumably from one of these reviewers, and it works fine. I'm not sure if the negative reviews are user error.This is a powered mic, it takes a AA battery. It has a switch with three settings, offnormaltélé which I assume is Beamforming. The normal setting seems to have good audio quality but tele reduces noise from the sides. in either mode, directionality is very pronounced so the subject can be heard even with ambient noise. Recording some music, rain asmr, and a podcast played from my phone seems to be compliant. I haven't tried any studio tests with it yet.construction is sturdy, the exterior is metal. you'd need a grip if you are going to hold it or you'll be listening to your heart beat. It's a bit longer than I would expect, maybe because of the battery.

This microphone was dead on arrival. I tried 2 different sets of new batteries and and tested it in two different PA systems and in my laptop but there was no sound at all. I then noticed that several other reviews said similar!

Bought it as a spare, opened it after return window closed. Device doesn't work.

Don’t know if this mic even works or not because there doesn’t seem to be any difference in the sound quality when just using your phone
