finding black gesso is hard, this company has it down.the only thing i would say especially if your priming wood rather or actually event canvas is use a layer of white gesso to get the initial stretch or impregnation then do 2-3 layers of this. its black as a moonless night

This is my first purchase of Golden gesso, and it is superior compared to the other brand I purchased! Will replenish my white gesso with Golden brand!

This is great gesso. I am painting a mirror and so far have only needed one layering of gesso to dry brush the stencil onto the surface. So far I really like it. I can’t wait to try it on canvas!

Great Gesso. Gets great coverage and depending on the canvas; doing one pass is enough.

This gesso is unbeatable! Golden's mediums are most definitely one of the highest levels of quality. An art teacher I worked for turned me onto this black gesso to use as a black paint as well as it is such a pure black. A little goes a long way so I imagine this 16 oz. jar will last me quite a while! It is so useful for so many different art projects. This is really is great stuff!
