Energiesparende Technologie

Energiesparende Technologie

Looking for a good power strip with surge protection and EMI/RFI filter, noticed at almost the same price point I can buy this UPS which has both of those plus a battery! Was worried about the noise (after reading some comments here) and had no good prior experience with UPSs in general! But decided to give this a try. So far, I do not regret the decision!PROS: + Silent! Unless it switches to battery when it produces relatively high level of noise. + Surge and lightning protection (only 450 Joules though so not sure if it is really effective against lightening! Eaton says for expensive devices look for UPSs that can absorb 1000-2000 Joules!) + EMI and RFI filters (based on the specification page on CyberPower website) + Overload protection + Automatic Voltage Regulation without switching to battery (Line + Ethernet + COM port). + Line interactive: which means faster than offline and quieter than online!CONS: - All ports and also the main power cable use IEC plug type (had to replace my monitor power cable with my UPS to make it work in Germany but not sure the monitor power cable can provide up to 550 Watt so will end up buying more cables! Look for the version without an 'I' in the model, for example VP1000ELCD instead of this one VP1000EILCD if you don't have IEC plugs) - Simulated sine wave output (not precise sinewave which means: this UPS is much cheaper but at the same time might not be ideal for the lifespan of certain connected devices (only upon power outages when UPS cannot produce precise sinewaves)) - This version has COM port protection which might not be usable for everyone (there are versions of the UPS with Coaxial cable protection for example which might be more useful to you) - The app is not designed for 4k monitors. Everything's so tiny I had to use magnifier in Windows to read the text. - Online subscription!! Battery life cannot be monitored in the app unless you subscribe and pay a monthly fee! Not much but I hate when I have to sign up and log in just to see if the battery is still in a good state or I have to replace that! VERY ANNOYING CyberPower, at least sell insurance or something not basic functions of a device we've paid for! - Max 550 watts so chances are you cannot connect your laser printer to it! Never tested but the overload protection should turn off everything once a power-hungry printer starts working! For a monitor + a mini PC + a few external peripherals that consume less than 200 Watts even when all are in use this is very fine.

Seems to work well, but perhaps I could have bought a larger unit. Haven’t tested USB comms yet.

Dat bringt dann nicht wirklich was...

We get a lot of daft little 3-4 second power cuts where I live, often, many of them one after the other. I've already lost a 4TB hard drive from my NAS due to this so I thought I'd better prevent it from happening again. This device does NOT come with a power cable, but anyone who has computer(s) is bound to have about half a dozen spare ones lying around. If not, it's just a standard kettle lead. The outputs aren't regular 3-pin plugs, instead using C13 outputs. This might seem daft but you do get a smaller unit than it would be if there were six fullsize UK plug sockets on the back instead. I had to make a short adapter to plug in the transformer of my BT Home Hub 5 (3-pin socket on one end, C14 connector on the other). I also replaced the plug on my NAS drive with a C14 connector, which then plugged straight into the back of the UPS. I've probably made this sound more complicated than it is. If you know how to wire a standard plug, it's all very straightforward.I have a Synology NAS which, when connected to the UPS with the supplied USB cable, allows the NAS to shut down safely and automatically after either a fixed period of time, or when the UPS battery runs low. In either case, low UPS battery will force the NAS to safely shut down anyway.I only have my Home Hub 5 and NAS connected to the UPS. My phone line is VoIP so with no internet, I have no phone, which would be bad in emergency situations. Using this UPS, the display claims that it will support both devices for approximately 66 minutes. When the NAS goes into sleep mode (i.e. not used for an hour), power requirements will be minimal and the UPS support period will be even longer. It has a nice display on the front which shows you various information including power input voltage/frequency, output voltage, current draw, battery charge level, expected battery runtime, and more. You swap through the screens by each press of the "Display" button. The screen auto-powers off after a few seconds if not touched. There is also a Mute button which can be used to switch off the very audible warning beep when there's a power cut.Overall, brilliant item that will hopefully protect my hardware for years to come.

Got this today for my QNAP TS-251D as we have had at least 1 powercut a week over the last month. Unboxed it, plugged it in then plugged in the qnap, then the usb comms cable between both and all is working well - the Qnap reckons it has about an hours runtime via this UPS which is great. Have tested it multiple times now and NAS keeps running. There is no power lead with the UPS but there is a kettle lead extension...the idea seems to be you use your existing desktop/NAS kettle lead to run the UPS and the supplied extension lead to power the computer off the NAS. Also, FYI, when i unboxed the UPS and wiggled it a little there was a rattle from the inside...however, after taking the front panel off this just seems to be down to some free space around the internal battery (2-3mm either side) so nothing to worry about. No issues and seems to be a nice compact unit. The LCD display is also a nice touch as well as it can show remaining battery (time and percent) as well and input/output consumption.
