Does not fit tight enough to push top off. It just moves down. Even tried putting extra clamps on it.

I doubt that it's stainless steel. For that reason, I'll give it three stars since it was advertised as stainless steel. For the price i'd expect stainless.The instructions aren't clear on how you're supposed to use two sleeves.I simply extended the chair to the heighth I like and installed one sleeve at the bottom of the cylinder to stop it from sinking into the main body of the gas piston.It works as expected and stops the chair from sinking.One side effect of this is the chair does not have any give or bounce that the gas piston would allow. When you sit down it is noticeably firmer.

I have a favorite drafting height chair for over 30 years. At some point the lift cylinder will fail. I will still have use of the chair, only at one setting, which will be fine.
