Wow! I read a review on here that stated, “Wow.” I purchased the book, and now I can’t rate it highly enough either.Written by a master at the top of his game in the last twelve years of his life, this unfinished manuscript, printed in typewriter font, as the manuscript would have been, is undeniably the best book Quigley ever wrote. It’s over 1,000 pages long, but unlike Tragedy & Hope, more explanatory, so you can keep reading, knowing the subject matter at hand will be gone into in sufficient depth, to be able to grasp as you go, and come to an understanding, without constant rereading of passages and later revision. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that!).I recommend anyone to read Quigley’s The Evolution of Civilizations first, to get the right frame of reference, but I dare say, you could simply start with this book, and it would cover all the bases.Weapons Systems & Political Stability leaves all other history books in the dust (apart from Quigley’s!).Well worth the investment. In fact I just bought a second copy myself, for when this kind of text is no longer available on the internet. If you want to know which direction the world is going, then you need to understand the full trajectory it has been on. This book explains that trajectory, like no other.

Quigley's best book by far - far more impressive than Tragedy and Hope. It has one flaw - it does not cover techniques of psychological warfare in any depth; these are at least as important as physical coercive methods. It excels in its history of Islam and the psychodynamics of the Muslim family. I learnt that there was far more to the battle of Hastings than we are taught in England. You learn at least two things: as long as psychopaths rule the world we will have wars and that the only protection against tyranny is an armed populace.

An excellent read from a brilliant man. I wish the state department had someone who could read this. Maybe Amazon will send a complimentary copy to Obummer for his wife to read to him.

The availablility of this posthumous work by Carroll Quigley is a marvelous benefit to anyone inspired by his well known book Tragedy and Hope. It goes into depth on themes introduced in this latter tome developing the political implications and social ramifications of the amateur versus specialist weapons discussion. It is a treasure and a pleasure.
