This is awesome for an expansion hat. It works great and I've not had any issues with it. I used it to add drives to a little pi nas(i know I know). Anyways works great for my uses.

Ich habe dieses HAT gekauft um mehrere (USB) Festplatten am Raspi 5 zu betreiben. Sozusagen als Alternative zum PCIE HAT für einen NVME SSD. Wobei es mir diesmal nicht um Geschwindigkeit ging, hier ist die SSD konkurrenzlos, sondern um größere Speicherkapazitäten für RAID-Anwendugen zu erreichen. Der Versuchsaufbau funktionierte wie erwartet problemlos. Preis /Leistung und Lieferzeit waren völlig OK.

It would be nicer if it supported PCI Gen 3, but it does what it says.

This Raspberry Pi 5 hat adds a 4 port USB-3.2 hub to your Pi5. It has a USB-C power connector to make the hub a powered hub. It is extremely easy to install. All hardware is included. It works well with the official Raspberry Pi fan/heatsink unit. The only thing that you need to do is modify the boot configuration file to turn on PCIe and change the pciex1_gen from 2 to 3 (not strictly necessary). The rest is plug and play. Instructions are not included with the hat but are available on the Waveshare website. The only tricky part is that you must install the cable in the proper orientation, or you will damage the hat. I tested all the ports on the hat for proper operation and they worked. I did not test the power input to make it a powered hub. The alternative to this hat is plugging in a USB-3.2 hub or powered hub into one of the USB-3 ports on the Pi. This solution is cleaner but uses the PCIe bus so that you can’t use an SSD instead of a SD card. Which way you go depends on your project. The board works as advertised.
