モカエクスプレス(6Cup)用で購入しました。無くても良いとは思いますが、コーヒー粉を零し難くなり後片付けも楽になって良い商品だとおもいました。

I was looking to cobble together my own funnel for my 3 cup moka pot and what did I find? This neat little invention that worked even better than I hoped. Fits the moka pot perfectly and as a bonus I can quickly fill and level the basket without spilling on the counter! I hadn’t really considered how useful the little leveling triangle would be. Just spin a few times and maybe a gentle tap or two on the side to settle any grinds. Any extra sits on top of that triangle and gets lifted off. Voila! Perfectly leveled coffee ready to go with no mess. I couldn’t have designed a better little funnel myself. Makes using the moka pot that much easier!

A generous three stars. All these five star reviews from overseas! Perhaps I'm expecting too much. I thought that this would slot securely onto the basket of my 6-cup Bialetti and the 30g of coffee I use would be gently but firmly levelled with a few twists of the funnel. Not so. The ring merely balances atop the basket and has to be held in place, with the basket sitting in something to keep it level. There is enough side-to-side wiggle room of the ring to allow grounds to escape and the whole lot still has to be picked up and tapped on a hard surface to settle the coffee. To be fair, the protruding fin can produce a satisfyingly level surface given time, though Italians often recommend a gentle mound of coffee when eyeballing the filling so I'm not sure how crucial this is, though it is my preference. Out of the packet, I'm not sure I'm gaining much over my previous 'spoon, spoon - tap, tap' method and for £8.99 I'm not impressed; I should have returned it.Frustrated, I've come up with a 'hack'. A few years ago, I 'acquired' some Costa Coffee takeaway espresso cups. The funnel fits over the rim of these cups precisely so I have cut the bottom off to make a collar for the basket. The basket/ sits inside the collar and the funnel fits firmly over the collar. This can all be held in one hand and the other used to spoon coffee in. Tapping is still required to settle the coffee but the funnel turns smoothly (no wiggle) to distribute the grounds. For me, it makes the funnel worth using. I have plastic cups (water cooler/vending machine type) which would work too, though the material means the rotation of the ring is not quite so smooth. The fact that the funnel fits both these cups so well makes me wonder if there was some kind of error in the specs when this funnel was being designed!Purchase with caution - if at all - and be prepared to return it. Other makes are available - I wonder if they are more successful.
