Vellum has a tendency to be quite expensive and hard to produce, which is why do few companies even attempt to make it these days. Traditionally it is thinned calf hides rolled up into semi-opaque paper that is a bit thicker than your usual printer paper with an almost lacquered, mottled surface like dried skin. Modern versions are made of polyester designed to imitate leather. If it’s real vellum, it’s nearly indestructible and lasts forever. It’s also quite firm and retains its shape unless wet.Prior to the advent of decent screen digitizers, vellum was the go to for concept art and architectural drawings, and is still used for the preliminary sketches of finished corporate art to this day. It’s very sought after, so when I saw this price I had to jump on it.This is not vellum however, not even slightly. Considering this is more transparent than tracing paper and about half as thick, I’m guessing this is just square cut tissue paper. It certainly has that grainy texture that tissue paper has, so that confirms it at least to me. This is almost like a thinner overhead projector transparency with a sandpaper texture. The paper almost crumples and bends just with you holding it like tissue paper does.Taking one leaf out of the package to compare it to real vellum I had on hand lead to a 5 minute farce of me trying to put it back in the pile without the paper creasing immediately.Vellum usually is $1 or more per page so I don’t know what going on when I fooled myself into thinking I could get “vellum” for $0.07 per page, but I certainly was far more optimistic than I should be.Please don’t make this mistake of buying this, and Thank God for amazon returns or else this would be complete false advertising.

Definitely lacking in quality compared to other vellum I’ve used. Super thin and not study at all. It struggles to cut properly on a paper cutter.

The quality is good, it just wasn't prefolded as stated? I thought there would be some sort of guidance for folding at least but it's literally just a sheet of paper. It's going to take a lot more work than planned now for my invitations.
