Der Video Grabber arbeitet korrekt. Der Anschluss an die Videoquelle (hier: Sony CCD-TR515)erfolgte ohne Probleme. Das Speichern der Videos im Format *.AVI klappte wie erwartet.Auf die SD-Card 4 GB passen gut zwei 90-min-Filme. Bis 32 GB sind lt. Händler möglich.Wer sich die AVI-Filme mal am PC ansehen will, muss ggf. die Software zur Wiedergabe ändern.Wackler/Störungen waren zu sehen, mittels anderer Wiedergabesoftware war alles top.Der kostenlose Movie Maker sorgte problemlos für die Konvertierung nach MP4.Eine abgerundete Sache.

Ich hatte bisher einen Grabber, der immer am PC angeschlossen sein musste für die Aufnahme. Da der Rechner aber das zeitliche segnet, wollte ich eine Alternative und habe diesen hier bestellt.Ich bin technisch nicht unbegabt, daher kam ich ziemlich schnell von alleine dahinter, wie er funktioniert.Ich habe mir eine 32GB Karte bestellt und diese eingelegt zum Aufnehmen. Funktioniert ohne Probleme.Was aber jedem klar sein sollte: VHS Kassetten haben nicht die Qualität wie eine DVD, und das Gerät kann nicht mehr Qualität bringen als das Ausgangsmedium hat. Ich bin mit meinen VHS Aufzeichnungen zufrieden. Und wenn man die DVD's aufzeichnet, ist die Qualität dort natürlich besser.Was manchmal jedoch passiert, ist, dass Ton und Bild nicht ganz überein stimmen. Wer das Mal googelt, wird aber gleich feststellen, dass alle Grabber im unteren Preissegment diese Probleme zwischendurch haben können. Damit kann ich leben, da die Verzögerung bei mir nicht sehr gravierend ist, und auch nicht bei jeder Aufzeichnung.Der Video Grabber kann mit angeschlossenem Ladekabel oder auch ohne benutzt werden.Auch die Möglichkeit, einen Zeitstempel anzubringen, finde ich klasse. So weiss man auch noch nach Jahren, welches Weihnachten da auf der Kamera aufgenommen wurde.Für das Aufzeichnen von DVD's habe ich mir einen günstigen gebrauchten DVD Player für 5 Euro gekauft, denn mein BluRay Player hat nur HDMI und dafür bräuchte es einen speziellen Converter.Alles in allem würde ich ihn wieder kaufen und auch weiter empfehlen.

Das Produkt wäre für den Preis, wenn es funktionieren würde eine tolle Sache. Die Inbetriebnahme ist simpel, leider haben die Aufnahmen immer wieder abgebrochen und neu gestartet, so dass man aus einem Film von ca. 50 Minuten länge viele Einzelfilme von meist nur ein paar Sekunden hat. Bei der Wiedergabe am PC hat sich dann leider auch heraus gestellt, dass bei der Aufnahme nur ein grün/rosa Bildschirm zu sehen ist mit Ton. Wir haben eine neue Micro SD Karte bestellt und verwendet um sicher zu gehen, dass es nicht an der mitgelieferten Karte liegt, aber damit hatten wir auch kein Erfolg. Natürlich haben wir auch verschiedene unserer Kassetten verwendet, aber das Ergebnis blieb leider das gleiche.

Therefore, it looks like, until somebody else decide that there is a "vintage" VHS market big enough to justify a new production line, there will be no new VHS player around... only storage residuals and second hand items.Because of that, I decided that the time did come to digitalize my VHS collection.I checked throug Amazon for a while, making comparisons between the different offers on the market. Finally I went for this one, because it looked the most complete and easy to connect and operate.The package is complete and professional. the box is full and the main device is properly protected. In the box I found all the cable and connection I could need to connect my "old" VHS player to the device. In particular, I found as nice surprise also a SCART converter (IN-OUT) and a HDMI cable for connecting the device to moder TVs.The screen Is small, but it is more than enough to properly operate everything. Actually you do not need a screen connected for the acquisition! I have the VHS player on a table far away from my TV, with the device connected and nothing else. So, while the acquisition is running, I can do whatever else I need with the TV...The device has a little speaker which can help to know if the video acquisition is still running without constantly staring the screen.The video acquisition can be done in VGA or QVGA (lower definition). VGA is perfect for the VHS source quality: it keeps details without overdoing it (it makes no sense to have full HD outcome from a VHS!).The device saves directly on the 4GB micro SD included. The format is an AVI. The movie is automatically divided in several files (about each 1,5h): it means that if the video is longer of about 1,5h, everything will be recorded, but in more than one file 9VGA quality, a bit more than 1GB files, QVGA quality about 750MB). The files are easy to access: just connect the device to the computer via USB (same cable used for power supply) or get a micro-SD reader (not included) and that's it!If you have a Windows based computer, that should not be a problem: included in the package there is a video editing program included. I assume it is working, because... I have a Mac!Now the negative points for the Mac owners: there is no editing program included. And the AVI format used by the device is not compatible with IMovie :-(I tried twice to ask for support: the answer could be interpreted as . This is the only major bummer.In the end there are free solution on the App store, even if I had to search a bit to find the one fitting my needs.I was a bit afraid to purchase a similar item (which is not super cheap), but in the end I am very happy of it.It is simple, and for me it is a major positive point. One button and it is recording. One button and it stops. You can check the result on the little screen included (fully autonomous) or you can get to the TV or to the PC.No major editing in possible on the device itself, but I think that it is better to work on a computer.It includes all the cable I needed... maybe if anyone wants to connect it to a modern device (more modern than scart/RCA) then some additional adapter could be needed.For my scope (VHS direct digital acquisition), this was almost perfect purchase :-)musmo
