Wanted a long time to write this review; and I read the reviews when buying this product for the reason the other 2 or 3 I owned failed, for the reason the gets hot then melts the metal and the grate falls apart, not one product I had bought lasted a year. Many of you also have this problem; however; good news we now on year 2 and no deterioration in the metal. The unique part of this grate is its one inch higher then other products I have owned thus burns or creates heat better, with fewer needs to remove the hot coals or ashes. Please note this product is HEAVY yet for small or medium size fireplaces. LOVE IT. Actually works.
