I got these to use with evergreen trees, as the stand up bags won't work for those. Well, these do not work as well as I was hoping. One, you need a decent amount of space under the evergreen, as these bags can get up to almost 6" high. Plus you need the room to 'work', and get the hose in there. Most of my trees are too close to the ground with decent branches yet. It is also not as easy to fill these bags as the stand up ones- those can sit the hose in them and walk away. With this, and its flatter profile, I found myself holding the hose and the bag the whole time. For a normal outdoor faucet, not sure of the flow rate? I am assuming 2.5 gpm or so, but it got kind of boring sitting there holding the house for 6 min or so each bag. The bags were empty within about 4 hours or so, they were not filled up all the way, but all I know is at 4 hours they were empty. Maybe they emptied at 2 or 3, I am not sure. However, in the end, these do not work as well for me, and at this point it's probably just easier putting the hose on a trickle for an hour on each tree, and just moving it. 3 stars? 4? Maybe 3.5...

My soil doesn’t absorb water very fast and more was evaporating on the surface, now I have hope the water is actually getting to the roots.

I don't really know what to say. They do 'slowly water' in the sense that they don't just let all the water out at once, but they don't last more than a few hours, so you're still coming around every day if it is really dry and you have a tree that needs constant watering.Is that functional? I guess it is a slow watering option, which can be good for water uptake, but they aren't the easiest to fill so I'm not sure I'll bother buying more and expanding the experiment.These don't leak though, and they fit the trees well. I was excited at first, but I just wish it took twice as long for the water to come out.3/5 feels a bit low, but I'm probably more around 3.5/5 than the 4/5 I had to give.
