Very impressed with the quality of this hitch. It's beefy and evokes the feeling of confidence. I have, thankfully, not had the opportunity to use it and hope that I only have to use it in the case of emergency. But, the quality gives me great confidence that it would perform in any situation it might be required. The shackle is high quality and nicely powder coated. It's course threads are smooth and don't stick like other shackles. The shackle bolt comes drilled at the end to accommodate a cotter pin to ensure it won't loosen while in use. The unit also comes with a nice hitch bolt and pin, so you can keep the unit completely intact or stored for when you need it. The actual hitch is nicely powder coated and the finish is clean. An added touch is the rubber washers that come, including and extra set, installed between the shackle and the hitch itself to reduce wear and noise when in use. I'm impressed and would buy it again if needed.

This is a heavy duty piece, made to Tow, and for Show. You will break your truck first, before breaking this piece. The hard rubber protection piece in the clevis should be removed when using a chain. To keep from destroying it, probably alright for a strap, easily removed. No BS.

This a very well-made shackle hitch receiver and a must have if you have a tow rope or a tow strap. I have bought two of these after I've watched a few videos online about how to yank a stuck vehicle out with my truck. The procedure is much more technical and dangerous than I initially thought. This shackle hitch receiver is best used with a tow rope or tow strap coupled with some "soft shackles" made of rope. The main concern is that you don't want ANY metal hooks or attachments in your setup, except for this shackle hitch receiver which is secured to your vehicle's receiver hitch. This is because if the rope or strap snaps, it is extremely dangerous to have pieces of metal flying through the air at crazy speeds and hitting you or someone else. All in all, it's extremely important to learn how to use this item and other offroad rescue equipment properly. Good luck and stay safe !

Yes, it's convenient to attach a chain to the ball hitch but it is dangerous .This is a safer solution.
