As a budget QD bipod, this is a really good pick. I don't need a bipod dedicated to any particular rifle so the QD option is great for easily moving it on and off platform as needed. The legs are sturdy but make sure to twist tightly when extending or retracting the leg extensions; a partial twist may feel good, but the leg extension will still move as there isn't a visible or tactile locking indicator. The bipod is stable and the feet have a good grip. I get a little more slop with it in order to keep the QD easier to manipulate, but that is personal choice and not a fault of the equipment. If I was dedicating a bipod to a platform, I'd probably go with something lighter on a fixed m-lok mount, but this is great when you don't want to commit.

Defiantly not as strong as a 1/200 dollar bipod, but it really does the job. Not just a toy. Defiantly not a toy unless you want it to be.

I was shopping for a third bipod and intended to buy a Caldwell, which I'd purchased before and was quite happy with. When I saw this one and its price tag, I looked more closely. At first, I thought "UTG, huh? Must be crap." I'd never heard anything good about that brand before, but decided to take a chance. I will have to say, this bipod really knocked me for a loop. While the QD tension adjustment is a wee bit touchy, once set, it's good to go. And I like the fact that the legs are held extended by spring tension. Other bipods require you lock them down once extended, or they collapse. This one is more logically the other way around. You have to lock them down when you want the legs set to their shortest position. Because this UTG product was so good, I've since purchased one of their minimalist AR-15 buttstocks, which is also great, and their 30-round AR-15 magazines are as reliable as any of the Magpul, Mission First Tactical, and HexMags I have. Sometimes companies start out struggling, and over time, their quality improves. Samsung is a company like that. I remember when all they made was junk. Now they're a world leader in high quality electronics. UTG has certainly improved in every product I've seen lately. The QD attachment is a little touchy at first, but once its set, a little LokTite solved that concern. The only drawback this bipod has is a little less cant and tilt. The cant has improved a lot with usage, however.

Looks great, like the design, functional. However, it comes loose every time I shoot my rifle, not sure why but its quite annoying. No point of a bipod that comes loose every time, seems like it's very easy to open and close (too easy obviously). Also, you have remove it every time you transport it because its too wide for most soft cases (should be fine for hard cases though). Also, I don't believe this is a caliber issue either, it seems that it comes loose during use too. For example, just the force/pressure of me laying the rifle/bipod on the ground seems to move it enough to loosen it.

UPDATE 2-21-15 ... (went from 5 stars to 4) Though this bipod is still Awesome for the money I made a change and went with the UTG Super Duty Tactical QD with external springs.I did not want this Super Duty bipod to start as I like the simple action of this Bipod so went decided against it before ... but the legs are not as solid at all ... don't get me wrong I thought this were pretty solid and had little to no play but I am not sure if they loosened up after time but when in use on the bench it rocked forward and back way to much for me and not a very stable bipod come to find out.So I started shopping for a quality bipod like a Harris etc. ... but started looking at the UTG Super Duty Tactical QC bipod and thought ... Hmmm, this is really close to a Harris and much less and it has the QD picatinny mount already (with Harris I would have to buy an extra attachment to get the Pic QD) ... So I gave this bipod a shot and ordered it. ..........http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004KSJDB0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1MUCH BETTER .... the legs on this new Super Duty Tactical are SOOOO much more solid ... and when I say Solid I mean SOLID!!! No play at all ... And really I like the more tactical look with the external springs come to find out anyway. Plus this Super Duty Tactical bipod has the same type of the height but when legs are retracted it is about 1" shorter, which I like when I need less bipod leg ... BUT when legs are fulled extended you also get even more length then this New Gen high profile one here. The legs are notched so that is better as well, along with it is easier to extend the legs with no twisting needed etc.Overall this New Gen High Profile bipod here is Great ... BUT the UTG Supper Duty Tactical one is WAAAY better .... Much more solid, length is better cause you can get it shorter and also longer for the same profile, notched legs are much better and easier to extend and work with, adjustment know is so much better to get the perfect height, and looks better IMHO. Worth the extra few bucks for sure.I have sold this bipod and use the UTG Super Duty Tactical OP QD bipod exclusively now. You can't go wrong with this bipod but it is not as good at all come to find out.My main purpose for trying something different was the sturdiness ... I did not like the play while bench shooting and it wobbling forward and back to much ... this new one that play an movement is gone and gives me more length options as well with a more solid feeling bipod overall and no so thin and skinny and less beefy feeling. After further use and of these products I would tell someone to pass on this and go with the Super Duty Tactical ;)UPDATE: Pictures Added !!!Excellent Dang BiPod !!! So I will start by saying I had the first gen version JUST before this came out so I bought this one right away (only 1 in stock when released) since I wanted something with a Quick Disconnect (QD) so I could move from bipod to open shooting and take off the slight added front weight when doing so.This thing is basically JUST as good as the other 4-1/2 start start first gen bipod but a slight bit better based on the fact it has the QD of course, thicker base and mount and feels and looks a tinge sturdier, the feet are a little grippier as well, doesn't have the o-ring sticking out on the pivot portion between the mount and base, and has a cool little UTG emblem to represent. The one thing I did not like is the new gen QD vs the first gen the finish is a TIIIINNNYYY bit different ... the first gen has a Flat Flat matte black finish just like your entire AR15 would and matches perfectly ... this new gen QD one has more a blued barrel type finish. But though it doesn't match the entire gun it does look good when folded up towards the barrel cause it matches the barrels finish so that's cool (just one tiny thing I saw that I didn't like as much as the basic no nothing matte finish). The base as you can see is larger in the pictures then the first gen but I have a standard carbine quad rail on my M&P15 Sport and I can fit the Magpul AFG2 foregrip and this bipod PERFECTLY on the bottom rail ... it's like it was made for both ... a absolutely perfect fit with both. These things make the AR just look awesome too when folded up.The posilocks on the legs are great and the legs go in an out perfectly and lock in solid. The pivoting section moves left and right a touch which makes those slight adjustments real nice. (and there is no ugly o-ring sticking out both sides like the gen1).The feet have a cam-lock type screw, so when unscrewed they snap out and give you and extra inch or two of length but its nice cause they are spring loaded so you can adjust each leg different in-case you are shooting from an unlevel ground! These are very light to me .... this Gen2 QD one is a TING TING heavier then the gen1 version but that is due to to larger QD mount and beefier base for the legs. But that being said I really didn;t feel much difference at all with it mounted vs. not mounted so that is great ... but good to have the QD incase I want it off though fast though.Gen2 version also comes in nice looking packaging ... not that it really matter just nice to see the change and know it a new version and the package shows it.For $35 (or even 30 for the first gen) these are a NO BRAINER buy ... if you don't have to have The Best Of The Best and are not a name brand snob AR owner like may other are then this UTG is as solid as it gets for a budget Bipod. I do not like the other with all the springs and hardware externally ... looks stupid and easily snags on stuff ... the functionality of these and the looks are top notch and I would not buy another bi-pod other then these. If you need the QD or want that function then this one is the one to get ... if you want a bipod that stays ont he gun more often the not then the first gen UTG for 5 bucks less is a great option and I rated that one 5 stars as well since it's basically this bipod for the most part but no QD.If you are just a basic weekend range warrior like me and just need a simple bipod then look no further then these UTG bipods ... I didn't need the name brand stuff to look cool, I know those will take a a beating and are much better quality but unless you are in need of a bipod to take to to war these UTG's will do the trick without a doubt!Hope this review helped ... I was on the fence for a while and kept hearing "Buy a Harris" "save you money for something better" but I decided to pull the trigger since I wasn't gonna spend that kind of money on a bipod and didn't like the way they looked .... I Am SO GLAD I tried this out cause it will be the only bipod I will own fro now on.If your on the fence like I was ... don't be ... Get One .... you will really like it trust me! :)
