There has been some thought put into the design of this balaclava and it works well under motorcycle and skiing helmets.The holes in the fabric in the nose, mouth and ear sections are well placed, although the fabric is so thin I doubt that the ones on the ears make much difference to sounds getting through.The fabric is super-lightweight and the whole thing folds up very small and easily fits in a pocket.There is a seam over the top of the balaclava, but I couldn’t feel this when the helmet was fitted (although it might be a different story for anyone with little or no hair on the top of their head and this seam could be annoying?).Any balaclava needs to be a tight fit otherwise it rucks up when donning the helmet. I have a 62cm diameter head and would have preferred the balaclava to be a fraction bigger, although it does stretch very well. Of course you forget this once your helmet is on and you’re riding.Overall this is a good product, but with quite a hefty price tag compared to others available and the ones I currently own.

Putting this on you immediately get a pleasant warm snug feel ( not sweaty ), it's soft, very flexible and light.A little niggle when first putting it on. It goes on easily but you need to fiddle about a little lining the mask up so the eye slot and mouth area doesn't look distorted. Once on I like how the mask fits down the neck making a seal between mask and clothing.Another bonus is because I wear a flip front crash helmet, when I go in to buy petrol I can leave my helmet and mask on. With the front of my helmet flipped up I can pull down the mask's eye area and tuck it under my chin exposing my face rather than going in to the garage looking like a masked robber.Perfect for these winter days.

Most balaclava type head covers I've used have suffered from the usual build up of condensation around the mouth area being solid fabric, this style allows a degree of reduction in that problem area, it doesn't stop it completely but there's not many products that can unless you're using a neoprene sealed face mask that isolates your breathing from your eye area. It fits well over my head with enough stretch to remain in place even when sliding my head into a fairly snug helmet, the ear vents I can't say were particularly effective at helping me hear more or less clearly than other types but it did feel comfortable and I'd say that's more important, I use ear plugs anyway on the bike so hearing isn't going to be dramatically affected by a thin layer of fabric whether it's mesh or not.As for weather protection, it's helps keep the wind off exposed areas if tucked into a jacket or thermal top so that's a plus, I ride a naked streetfighter so there's very little wind protection and this definitely reduces the effects of being chilled by high speed wind. The material is wicking and quick drying so it doesn't stay moist for long in use, it's easily washed if treated like a standard microfibre item and dries again quickly for use, all in all definitely handy to have for those colder ride outs.

The first thing that strikes you is the fact that this comes in a box that fits in your palm, the second is how light it is to the point where you start to question if it is any point in using this.The fact is that this is perfect for anyone because it is light and still keeps a bit of warmth and protection as well without making you feel like suffocating so in this case from my point of view is money wel spent.

Great product! Personally, I usually don’t wear balaclavas as I wear glasses and find they often steam up. That being said, my helmet is a fraction too big for me so wearing a balaclava means a perfect fit. The holes in this balaclava certainly help reduce the fogging up - I’d highly recommend to anyone that wears glasses!
