The lens is well made - all metal body parts - the M42 screw thread allows for easy adaptation to virtually any mirrorless camera system and even many film cameras. The lens is one to use for a specific aesthetic rather than everyday use. It does recreate the swirly Bokeh under the right conditions - which was the same with the original lens this is modelled on. A nice piece of glass.

I believe in giving credit where credit is due: the original Biotar was great for it's time, people liked it so Helios cloned it ... along with all its flaws and imperfections .It's only natural that those in the race to produce optically perfect lenses would win...for those who want that.TTArtisan has -with the 75mm f/1.5- won the vintage/classic lens battle nobody knew about! The images are stunning, the swirl is gorgeous... I never thought would be possible.TTArtisan has revived the old legends - stop chasing after the Biotar or Helios .

Das Bokeh ist genial und die Schärfe mehr als ausreichend, wenn auch nicht perfekt. Für mich die richtige Wahl.

I recently purchased the TTArtisan 75mm F1.5 Swirly Bokeh Lens for my Leica SL2-S, and it has exceeded my expectations as a tool for artistic expression. If you're looking for a manual-focus lens that delivers unique character and beautiful results, this is an incredible addition to your kit.Build QualityThe build is solid and feels premium in hand, with a fully metal construction that complements the Leica's robust design. The focus ring is smooth and well-damped, which makes manual focusing a pleasure. It’s also compact for a lens of this type, making it portable and easy to handle during shoots.Image QualityThis lens delivers a vintage, dreamlike aesthetic that you won’t find with modern clinical lenses. The wide aperture of F1.5 produces strikingly shallow depth of field and mesmerizing swirly bokeh, especially when shooting in conditions with busy backgrounds like foliage or lights. Portraits, in particular, take on a magical quality with a soft subject-to-background separation that’s truly captivating. While the lens is tack sharp in the center when stopped down a bit, it’s not about technical perfection—it’s about the mood. Wide open, the images have a soft, painterly quality, which suits creative portraiture and fine art photography perfectly.Ease of UseBeing a manual-focus lens, it does have a learning curve if you’re used to autofocus. However, the Leica SL2-S’s focus peaking and EVF make nailing focus much easier. If you enjoy slowing down and being deliberate with your shots, this lens rewards you with unique results.ConsiderationsNot for everyone: If you're after razor-sharp edges or autofocus convenience, this isn’t the lens for you.Slight vignetting: Noticeable at wider apertures, but it adds to the character for me.Swirly bokeh is subjective: It’s gorgeous, but it’s not subtle—be sure you like that look before buying.Final ThoughtsThe TTArtisan 75mm F1.5 is a fantastic lens for those who value artistry and character over perfection. Used on my Leica SL2-S, it has helped me create images that feel one-of-a-kind and evoke strong emotion. For the price, this lens punches well above its weight and is a must-have for photographers who crave creativity and vintage charm. Highly recommended!
