I've soldered since high school, but always used solder suckers, so I'm new to wick. I'm not sure if I just suck or what, but I find it doesn't really like sucking up solder by itself. But upon watching a YouTuber explain how he uses his however, I've found out a fantastic way to make it work 100x better. I just dip however much I need of it into some solder flux paste, then melt it with the iron so that it diffuses into it, and then it sucks up solder like a dream. It has its place, sometimes I find my sucker to be better, other times I find this to be. Having both is a necessity in my opinion. Overall, I'm quite happy with it, although I wish it would just suck up on it's own (I could also be an idiot, I'm not sure).
