I bought this for a backpacking trip in the Appalachian mountains last weekend. I was using a Lawson hammock tent, and wanted something for just a little bit of extra support and warmth. It is remarkably light, and when inflated (took about 5 extra breaths after allowing self inflation), it was even a decent sitting cushion while my camping group played Shadowdark at our bed down spot. It folds up nice and easy, and the valve is self-explanatory. I have only used it once, so long term durability is still unknown, and despite the light weight, it is still rather bulky, but I think it is a very solid choice for a little bit of extra support when backpacking. I will probably use it when I truck camp too. Works well with my Ultralight cot in the bed of my truck.

I had an older version of this that finally gave out.I figured I would get another as a replacement since the last one lasted so long. This new version uses a new material, which honestly feels significantly cheaper.I can easily see this puncturing in the future due to how flimsy it feels.I also noticed that I had noticable air leakage by the following morning, which didn't really happen with the older version until it finally gave out.I'm just very disappointed with how much the quality seems to have gone down.

This was a lot thinner than the expectation I got from the description.

I like the new fabric texture to this revison, but my old silver vinyl one never leaked or developed holes, whereas this one did after 1.5 months or so.I found the leak and patched it this morning; good thing about self-inflating mattresses is that they at least retain some r value when deflated.I might look for closed-cell now, as I need reliability over comfort or packability.I wish they sold these in wide, as I really don't need long AND wide. I kinda just wish they made a half-sized one, but wider...I still like this mattress, but wish they doubled-down on durability with the scout line; when you go ultralite, leaks are to be expected, but I thought the scout line was supposed to be durable but bulky...

I’ve had a therm-a-rest classic since the 90’s, but it was only 20” wide and a little heavy for the insulation it provides. I bought the 24” wide trail scout, it is wider, lighter, and seems to provide even better insulation. Folds and rolls into a tighter package too. I prefer a self-inflating pad, so this is the best value for weight and Rvalue in the self inflating class. I’m recommending to all my scouts.
