Ottimo prodotto!

These are undeniably quality. The crucial 9.5 radius that I use the most has some slight pitting on the back but it works regardless. I wouldn't advise buying from ANYONE other than Stew Mac for precision made guitar maintenance apparatus to be honest.

Based on positive reviews of this brand and poor reviews of other brands I bought this Stewart Mac set, and I am glad I spent the extra. No burrs or defects at all, and they fit perfectly under the strings of my acoustic and electric guitars without bending.I needed to know the fretboard radius of my acoustic to replace the nut with a precut Zero Glide nut (I'm not a luthier and don't have nut files). Most acoustics are 12" or 16" and in 3 minutes I had my radius figured to be 16", and a new Zero Glide nut is on the way. Btw most electrics are one of the other two sizes, so this set of four is perfect for my use.Just hold the tool vertically, slide under the strings, rest it between two frets and shine a flashlight. You will be able to see which one of the tools lies flat with the fretboard and know your radius. This product costs less here than the manufacturer's website, so be kind to your instrument and buy the good one!

Understring radius gauges are a necessity for a pro luthier and a nicety for the collector or hobbyist. You can always eyeball the bridge heights or set them to feel good, but starting out conforming to the fingerboard radius is best, especially if you like a lower action. There are a lot of inexpensive radius gauges available on Amazon, some as little as 1/8th the cost of this set from Stewart-Macdonald. But they really were very little help at all. One set i tried had unfinished burrs where they were stamped out. And both the two sets I tried had very tall gauge areas. This made it harder to work into the bridge area to check understring height ant the radius surface check can only be done with the strings completely removed. The Stew Mac gauges were much narrower and very well finished. It was easy to use them, and you can feel confident of the results. This set has only 4 gauges, but captured the most common radii.Definitely a case where going with the pro-level tool (where the difference in cost is unlikely to break the bank) it worth it.

Like most Stewmac products, this isn't inexpensive. Stewmac often charges many times what other sellers charge for similar products. In fact, the difference in prices are so great that one has to judge them on value. Some products will work essentially the same regardless of the cost so buying the less expensive alternative often provides greater value. However, looking at cheaper radius gauges reveals a couple things that, for me, made it worth the price to go with Stewmac in this case. One of those things is how narrow the radius gauge is on it's curved part. Narrow is good in this case because you have more clearance under tight spaces. Other than that, at least you can be confident that Stewmac products are accurate and high-quality. You can't always be confident of that with radius gauges that are far less expensive. So, in this case, it was worth it to spend more to know I was getting accurate and high-quality radius gauges. Also, this set covers all the neck radius of my three guitars and more so I don't need a set that includes more gauges. That said, I wish Stewmac's prices were more inline with that of alternative products. Their prices are fine for guitar parts that are sold through many dealers. For example, Stewmac charges competitive prices for tuners and other guitar parts. But their prices for luthier tools can almost be outrageous - sometimes as much as ten times the cost of similar tools by other sellers. In most cases, I carefully choose from the less expensive options. This purchase was an exception.
