I have problems with people opening my chain link fence gate and not closing it....thus my 2 dogs get out without my knowledge. I have used combination or let locks that go thru the raisable latch but someone can still lift the ground bar and push the gate open. I had used a long bike lock cable in the past but am trying this short cable lock and it looks like a good solution. Yes, as others have said the keys for this lock are tiny but for my purpose that should not matter. I like that it's short enough that even if the ground bar is pulled up the gate can't be opened far enough for the dogs to get out.

I just got this lock and cannot tell if it's going to last but I can say that the key is tiny, like the tiny key for a childs music box, it's 1 1/4" long, about 1/2 the length of a normal key! I put it on a key ring right away for fear of losing it! The cable won't insert and lock without the key inside so, you have to hold the lock and turned key in one hand and insert the cable with the other hand. Kind of irritating but it's a cheap lock.I'm using it to lock a surfboard rack to my car. We'll see how long it'll last. I'm guessing that the tiny key will break in the lock first.At least it'll deter someone from thinking of stealing my rack.

If you are going to transfer a gun from a another person. You will need to buy this lock BEFORE you do the transfer and show an invoice. Not on the same day. Does not matter if gun originally came with one. If these democrats honestly think that buying a gun lock before will actually do some good, they are complete ------. Criminals are criminals for a reason. DUH.

Last fall I finally ponied up the money for a good deer hunting rifle. I travel a couple hours to where I hunt, and use the locks when transporting my rifles. The one that comes with the rifle, the bright yellow ones (here in NYS anyway) never had the proper length or flexibility to fit through the ejection port on the open bolt. I couldn't get it to loop upwards, out of the port, without a pair of plyers, and it would knock around in there as I tried. I didn't like the idea of that metal tip banging or scratching into precision components. I bought this lock to remedy that situation.It's been a major improvement. This lock is both longer and more flexible, yet it doesn't seem more flimsy. Now I can thred the lock in and out without pushing it into the internals. The original lock may or may not have been a huge deal, but a few bucks is a good investment for piece of mind on something that costs a lot of bucks.

I almost didn't buy this because of negative reviews concerning the operation of the lock. So I was stunned when I received mine and found that the lock was so easy to use. It only requires a quarter turn to lock or unlock. Maybe people are trying to force it into a half turn. Someone posted that they used it to secure their French doors. It was too short for my French doors, which are the widest available. But I kept it to use around the knobs on my double front doors. Excellent product. Edit: Now that I have had this lock for a couple of weeks, I think I have figured out why people are having problems. You MUST make sure the end of the cable is COMPLETELY pushed in all the way before you try to turn the key. If the key is hard to turn, you haven't pushed the cable in all the way.
