I have been trying a couple of hours now trying to get this to install on a 64 bit windows 10 machine with no luck. Of course drivers included with card didn't work so downloaded latest from startech website. Using their setup.exe the install aborts without giving any reason why. So tried cleaned up the mess it left and tried directly updating drivers for the device but windows oddly installed a new multifunction device and renamed the pci serial ports. However the serial ports still say no working driver. Had to update drivers one by one for each port per star tech instructions but no luck and any further reinstall or update causes a driver installation error. So far three reboots, two blue screen driver fail crashes.How can someone release hardware without functioning drivers for windows 10? It is going back tomorrow.

We're using this to provide additional USB ports to an Opera IFC workstation. It's simple and the software installed without problem. We didn't need 8 but just 4 and other vendors have been sold out for months. 5/5

I have 3 of these installed on a low profile Windows 10 desktop computer. Installation was fast and easy, and the card was immediately recognized. Added 2 more cards and there were no issues. No conflicts. Now I have 12 ports + 1 built in port.On this particular PC, I used to have USB based ports, so port numbers had gaps. I had to go to device manager and to serial ports, then do "show all devices". That will show devices that are defined but not currently not present. Remove them and renumber. Now all the ports are in order. I've put tags each of the port just in case.Serial ports have mostly dissappeard from PCs but I have room full of equipment that still uses them. I have lots of GPSDO (please look this term up) and now all of them are connected to a PC to monitor, and run tests when necessary. I've tried USB based ports also but some of them suddenly renamed themselves and it was just awfully confusing. It costs more to go with this card but performance has been flawless.I'm from time where PC-XT was new. As simple as serial ports are, they can be a mess to setup multiple. Cheap one may work but sometimes drivers are questionable. Forget mixing brands, too. So I just went with well known brand name ones. (this one) I made the right decision.

I tried a different four port unit from another company on my high end Win 10 PC, but was never able to get it to work.This device, with claimed Win 10 support, worked perfectly.As a note you have to instal the driver from the device settings for each of the four ports. Only takes a moment.And to configure your ports, unplug any USB that could be using a serial converter and grabbing a COM port number, then reboot, then go into the system devices, select the port, advanced, and select the COM port number of our choice.Then plug back in any USB and let them reassign as needed.I use this for amateur radio equipment and it has worked flawlessly so far.
