This StarTech.com 2-Post 12U Heavy-Duty Wall-Mount Rack is exactly what I needed for my home setup. Installation took literally 10 minutes from start to finish—even in a pretty tight space. The included hardware and clear instructions made it effortless, and I was able to handle the job solo without any issues. The build quality is outstanding—solid steel construction that feels way sturdier than you’d expect at this price. Once mounted, it easily supports my patch panel, a switch, and some smaller network gear (I’m not running a full-depth server here), with no wobble or flex. The open-frame design is perfect for managing cables and allows for great airflow, so there’s no concern about overheating. At 12" deep, it’s compact enough for home use without sticking out awkwardly into the room, but still offers plenty of room for typical networking hardware. Everything standard 19" fits perfectly. If you’re looking for a strong, professional-grade rack for home networking or AV gear—especially where space is tight—this is a no-brainer. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase!

I am using multiple Behringer Eurorack-Rack 3U rows and one Clicks&Clocks 1U row for my modules. In general, such server racks work much better than typical eurorack cases:* better heat dispersion* ability to swap rows fast* much more efficient use of available desk spaceThe actual StarTech server rack:Very stable, heavy and sturdy.I am using it without the top connecting lever to increase the usable number of rows effectively to 16 (this works only if the top device is 3U).

This is a good quality powder coated steel frame, ideal for a home set up.It is limited in flexibility, so if you're looking for more adjustment of your vests or side mountings, probably not right. It is very rigid, good construction and alignment, with good level of finish, and supplied with cage nuts and screws, for mounting of devices.

This is a nice rack for people who need a shallow closet rack. It is a little too shallow for my needs, but I mounted it on 1” blocks to create more depth and I purchased 90° IEC power cords. That kept me from buying a rack that was too big for my needs. Hopefully...just right. This rack mounts 16” on center, so it is right on the studs in standard walls. The first one I purchased had a faulty right front rail. It was manufactured with a slight flaw which prevented assembly. I was easily able to return the faulty rack and purchase a new one. The new rack was flawless and assembled easily.2023 UpdateI’ve purchased at least three more of these in the 8U version since my first post. I often mount them on 1” (5/4”) thick blocks to get 1” more room for the typical equipment I use and I really like the 90° IEC power cords for minimizing depth requirements. The photo is of a rack that is part way through an evolution. The 8 port switch will be retired soon and some patch panel items will be relocated. That’s why I now only use blank patch panels and keystone inserts. They make reconfiguration of a rack much easier.
