Only bought for PXE boot as it explicitly said it supports it. IT DOES NOT. Build quality good not not worth the price when it is the same as a device less than half the price.

I wanted a Internet backup using an Ethernet Adapter. Google was sending me all over the place with nothing to show. So, I bought the Startech Ethernet Adapter and plugged it in. Works right away. Once again, Startech delivers. I'm a big fan of theirs when it comes to quality and doing what I need their product to do.Works with:Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, plug and play.Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, plug and play.Samsung Galaxy Tab 28 Ultra + Caldigit USB-C SOHO Dock + Startech Ethernet Adapter, plug and play.Did not test with S22 Ultra + Caldigit USB-C SOHO + Startech Ethernet Adapter. The Caldigit USB-C SOHO Dock does work with S22 Ultra, however.Charging with the Ethernet Adapter gives me fast charging from the SOHO Dock.Cons? If you hate plastic? This might not be for you.Product? RECOMMENDED.EDIT: With tablet + dock, I plugged in the adapter through a dock and it was not recognized. My solution was to plug adapter directly into tablet and enable Ethernet and confirmed IP address was assigned. Then I unpluged ethernet adapter, immediately plugged dock into tablet, and then plug ethernet adapter into dock. Ethernet adapter worked with no needed changes to settings.IMPORTANT: Recommended to use 65W or greater power source if you are having issues with connecting to a network through the adapter. Your tablet or dock may not be providing enough power. This is a 2.5GbE adapter and will drain your battery faster. It seems that many people have issues with these types of adapters until they have a higher wattage adapter. Max recommended of course is 100W.

Adapter works fine with Mac and Samsung galaxy s25. As expected no drivers required. I recommend this product.

+Uses Realtek RTL8156BG chipset (this is the chipset you want)+Space grey, perfect match to Apple space grety+100w pass through, and when using it, it does not impact performance vs using power directly to computer (I benchmarked... some USBC hubs claim to pass through X wattage, but have a performance impact vs using a factory power supply). Pass through allows you to free up a USBC port if you use for power vs the apple mag power supply.-Plastic shell, but feels high quality. The plastic keeps the weight down.This is the only 2.5 Gbps ethernet adapter with a 100 W PD power port and the realtek RTL8156BG chipset I could find.
