This isn't the most heavy duty of sewing machines, but its small size makes it easily portable. I haven't been anywhere near a sewing machine since I was at school, so was looking for something simple for beginners.This is exactly that. It comes with a piece of cloth already attached, with some sample stitching in it, and the machine already strung (apparently it's common for sewing machines to arrive like this). This was useful, as I probably would have struggled to figure out how to do it without this. The instructions are legible, but not the easiest to follow.The machine comes with various reels of string, as well as a tape measure. I haven't yet had anything that needed stitching, but I've tested this out on a spare T-shirt I was about to throw out anyway, and it fared very well. You can change the speed using either the switch on the device itself, or using the pedal. There is then a wheel to select between different stitch patterns, with a diagram to show which setting relates to which pattern.If you're looking for something basic for some DIY stitching jobs, you could do a lot worse than this.
