I bought my Meyer lemon tree 🍋 on impulse from a local garden centre earlier this year and not really thought about protecting it over the winter.After much reading about the care of these trees I realised that I needed to bring the tree indoors over winter 🥶.These trees can survive some frost but shouldn't be exposed to constant cold.With this in mind I bought this caddy to put the pot on it and it fits perfectly.UpdateI have watered my Meyer Lemon Tree indoors for the first time after bringing it in from outside due to the lowering winter temperatures.When the Lemon Tree was outside I was mixing a 10ml capful of fertiliser to 6 litres of water as per fertiliser instructions and then just pouring this in to the tree plant pot and any excess water would just come out of the holes at the bottom of the pot.As the pot is no longer outside and on this caddy I just filled a much smaller 700ml watering can designed for indoor plants twice to see what would happen.BE WARNED as about half of the water found its way through the bottom of the pot in next to no time.Hardly any of the water ended up in the collection container underneath the caddy and instead just collected within the saucer.I have found that the hole in the centre of the saucer is not at a lower point to the rest of the base and if the floor that the caddy is on is just slightly sloped even by a small margin the drainage of the caddy will be affected.
