I like the shop fox unit and it works well, however, I did have to turn the shaft around. First time I tried it, the nuts tried to unscrew themselves. In the directions, it says the left hand threads go on the left side - they were on the right. It's not hard to correct, and maybe this was an anomaly, but thought you'd like to know. Except for that, it's the best in 3/4 inch that I could find.

I was wanting one of these for a while and bought it when they finally came back in stock. Yes the packaging was on the weak side but it is a pretty sturdy unit and was undamaged.I bought this to buff nitro lacquer on a guitar I was building, set it up with a 1/4 HP motor, 2" pulley on motor and 4" pulley on the buffer for about 860 rpm. I installed a pair of 12" wheels and it did a great job. No overheating of the lacquer and no stalling of the buffer.The price was great too. It might not be a production shop buffer but is great for a hobbiest.

The packaging on this item was terrible. It was packed loose in a flimsy box. When you receive it, make sure you check for damage. Despite the bad packaging, there was no damage to the buffer, but make SURE you check yours as soon as you get it to report damage. Also, the paint job is a bit sloppy--sort of like they had the local kindergarten class paint it for a class project. BUT, this is a heavy buffer that does its job well. It's heavy and so far it seems very tough. Don't be afraid to buy it. The belt is kind of cheap, but that's a minor issue.

Box was pretty smashed up when it arrived but the unit was in good condition. Measured 4 thou of runout at each end of the arbor shaft. Not sure yet if that'll cause excessive vibration. Faces of the shaft nuts aren't perpendicular to the threads which will push the buffing wheels out if square. I'll probably machine some new nuts as replacements. Don't like that the whole unit has to be disassembled to change the belt. Overall the product is good enough for how much it cost.

It came in a ripped box within another ripped box that was way too big for it. It looks like it has been used and returned as there is chips on the arbour paint in several places and there are no instructions in the original box. Very unhappy with my order.
