This heat detector alarm lasts for 10 years, it's easy to install on your ceiling. The alarm isn't loud but works quite well when there is a bit of smoke, it still activates

Some alarms are quite ugly, but this heat alarm from Sensero is one of the better looking ones available. It's no larger than an average sized alarm, and easy to mount, with either screws or the self adhesive pad that comes with the kit.The battery life is claimed to be 10 years, which I have no way of verifying. It's worth checking the building control regs in your particular location for alarm requirements, and whether it needs to be mains powered or if this battery powered unit will comply. For peace of mind my own preference is an interlinked mains powered alarm system with battery backup. This alarm is not interlinked. An interlinked system is one in which you have multiple fire and smoke alarms to protect different floors and rooms in the house, and if one goes off, they all go off, making sure everyone in the house is immediately alerted. This is by far the safest system, and is actually a legal requirement in some circumstances, so you need to be aware of what those requirements are before you choose what to fit.I do know that the rules are different in Scotland, and that HMO's, rental properties and commercial spaces can have different needs from domestic dwellings. Offices (mentioned in the listing) are covered by different regulations from domestic dwellings. So, check first if in doubt, because you don't want to invalidate your insurance or create a liability.

I am reviewing a 10 year sealed battery heat alarm, priced £14.98 at time of review. When we moved in, our house had a full set of wired in heat and smoke alarms, but these are now more than 10 years old so needed replacing. Having discovered it would cost about £40 per unit to replace these I decided to go with battery powered options, including this new heat alarm for my kitchen. Like this one, most seem to have a non-replaceable 10 year battery, which is a good idea since the alarms do not last longer than that and this saves having to replace the batteries. Normally this means someone can’t deactivate the alarm without removing the batteries, but this one has an on-off switch on the back so it can still be put out of action. When it is on it does emit a green LED flash once every five minutes, but I would prefer this to be a constant light, or happen at least once a minute, so I can be reassured no-one has turned it off without having to watch it for up to 5 minutes or climb up and take it off it’s mounting bracket to look at the switch.I wrote the installation date on the back before applying the sticky pad to the smooth side of the mounting bracket and attaching the alarm. This was quick and easy, but it can also be attached using screws. When I press the test button it produces a series of four loud beeps to confirm it is working. I plan to test it weekly as the instructions say to do, and hope to never find out how it functions in a real-life fire.

Has a loud alarm. Do test it when stood at a distance from the product. I would suggest wearing earplugs when testing because the alarm is very loud when testing it at an arms length away. The instructions are clear but the font size is small.Supplied with wall plugs, screws, a mounting bracket, and a double sided sticky mounting pad for an alternative method of attaching it to a smooth ceiling or wall. The battery is sealed and cannot be replaced. It should last for 10 years with weekly testing. Actual alarm activation will impact the longevity of the battery. There are quite a few things to avoid when choosing a location for this heat sensor and things which should be done.I would have preferred the branding to not be on the viewable centre of the device. The product cannot be painted so the brand name will be on display. Possibly a paper sticker could be stuck over it. This may look a little odd and worse than just having the name visible.A switch on the base turns the heat sensor on or off. It is shipped in the off position and therefore will require it being turned on before mounting and using. The footprint size and actual design looks fairly compact and not too obtrusive.Obviously I cannot comment on its longevity. I have not had an actual incident to test its functionality in a life saving event. The test function works as intended and the alarm is very loud. Positioning it may be problematic for some. Especially where space is limited. It is supposed to be away from ceiling beams, washing and dryer machines, and ceiling coves; as some examples.
