Measured and tried my old muffler from early 2000s B&S, 13hp, MTD mower. Needed 1-1/4 this is definitely too large. I do not think 1-1/2 (1.5”) would work when I put tape measure to it. Likely need 1-5/8 inch OD pipe. Had to return.

Looks the same as original, good price, except the pipe thread to me measures 1 1/2", not 1 1/4". Would need a reducer to make it work.
