being new to boat ownership as of 2017, i bought this kit for my OMC Cobra equipped boat in May of 2022 thinking, "what a smoking deal for all these bits", and by the end of last year, August 2024, my gimbal bearing started making excessive noise and i noticed some cracking on the top of the u-joint bellow... when i pulled it apart last weekend 5/17/25 to change everything out i could not believe how bad off the bellow was (pictures attached)... besides the gimbal bearing making noise i was taking on about 2 quarts of water after the last few sessions of last season when i pulled my bilge plug, which meant water was passing through the gimbal bearing seal into the bilge... thats a lot of water to be seeping through a gimbal bearing and driveshaft seal! upon pulling it all apart (last Saturday) i realized the bellow must have been completely full of water whenever the boat was in the water, which is what lead to the GB's premature failure... so basically this was a 1 and a half season u-joint bellow with less than 60 hours on it... this time around i spent $80 on a much higher quality Sierra Marine bellow and a $70 greaseable gimbal bearing and could tell upon unpackaging the bellow rubber was a much better quality material than the previous failed bellow... further, when i installed the new GB i pumped grease into it via the grease port on the right of the outdrive and could visibly see the grease flowing out of the main bearing unit, so i know it functions as it should and will respond to future service intervals as it should... as someone who's worked on every vehicle i have ever owned over the course of my whole life (born in 62) this has been yet another learning experience and will NEVER skimp on parts that keep water out of main drive bearings of a floating vessel that brings so my joy and relaxation to my life... the u-joint bellow is one of the most important parts on any boat, and i hope this review helps all you DIYer's when it comes to buying parts for your boats....

A lot of people think they are because the hole is covered for shipping. Just spin the ribbed outer sleeve to expose grease port, then line it up during install. Otherwise great product.

It shows that it comes with a seal but it does not.

Defect in the bellows, the gimbal may be slightly undersized, or out of round, wont go together with it.
