Yes it collects water…. As well as everything else…. Because it’s glass it broke the first time mowing. Not a reflection of the product, I should have known not to get glass. Very cute and does what it should, glass just isn’t a smart fit for me.

These rain gages are very inaccurate unless you cut the top rolled edge off, once thats removed they are quite accurate. the top rolled edge causes quite a bit of rain water to be splashed into the gage, surprisingly quite a bit more than you would imagine.

Glad I ordered these when purchasing a glass rain gauge. It wasn't long before a weed wacker, not used by me, broke the original tube. No breakage since.
