Was flying when I lost video signal so I tossed the drone into a nearby grass feild then disarmed and after the drone going through about 250ft of free fall and Landing in grass was just fine - the vtx which failed while flying.

a nice apex micro 3" clone. 20x20 up front and 20x20 in back. I adapted the back to 25.5 for hdzero whoop lite vtx. all fits well.the prop guards are taken from a cinelog25 that was not such a great build. the guards are great, I want more of those.motors are xing 1404. I use a 3s 800mah and get 4-5 mins indoors with it. have not taken it outside yet (just built).quite steady and solid. did not plan on the guards but they ended up fitting. 2.5" props.

I'm kinda noob with quads, but this is my 4th generation build and after much wa$ted gear, it is now all digital.The analog garbage just caused more crashes due to limited range, lost control signal, poor video and/or telemetry.Since this frame design has a pair of both 30 and 20mm mounting centers, I made this a 20mm stack + DJI vista + ELRS + GPS + Vifly finder. Also AKK 1407-3500K cheapo motors. I even shoehorned a LR2450 rechargeable to power the GPS/vifly for fast hot start. (and longer help find me duration)That's a lot to cram onto this tiny frame, but the 'mini' electronics make it barely possible. (some clever construction too)My overloaded (4S) contraption is why the 1.5mm thick battery hat broke after a minor hard landing.But not totally this frame's fault...I removed the two vertical brace plates that normally are intended for mounting the analog camera -and substituted round standoffs and little rubber camera mounts for the Caddx digital camera. This weakened the frame's battery mount -so I bought a second frame kit and glue sandwiched the two battery platforms together, making it a 3+mm plate.The remaining frame is robust enough to withstand my clumsy attempts to learn to fly -or crash due to inflight motor failure. lol 1 star off for being too lightweight, 2 stars off for durability due to the battery plate, but that's IMHO. In reality, its a 4 star all the way.All part of the fun.

Excellent frame, flies great. I was looking for a frame to replace my Diatone r349 4s, which broke an arm on a hard crash. Wanted something more durable than the 349 and wanted to stay in the 3" range. This came in considerably more heavy than the 349, as the frame is roughly 2x the weight plus I added a vista unit (which I kinda regret- I think I had better overall quality with the micro swift and tbs vtx, lots of pixelation with vista). Weight came in at roughly 310g with a 850 4s battery. Yikes! 1408 motors and 349's esc still provide PLENTY of power for ripping freestyle. With same rates... I notice I need to keep the throttle around 20-30% higher to maintain a hover/cruise. Flight time was around 4-5 min instead of 349's 6-7 min on an 850 pack. Flew absolutely great on my 349's PID tune (courtesy of AndyRC). Will probably upgrade to bf 4.3 and tweak the filters and PIDs a bit more, but as of now it flies better than any of my previous rtf models with shipped tunes. Flips and rolls just seem so much more precise. Overall, much happier now with this frame and more confident it won't shatter or crush motors the way the 349 did. This frame is rock solid. It's given me a new perspective on the importance of a well designed frame.Edit: Ran logs through bf Blackbox viewer. Absolutely no abnormal vibrations/resonance. Was able to turn bf filters WAYYYYY down and motors are barely warm to the touch. Could probably go further, but want to leave some room for a bent or damaged prop should I ever need it.Update: went head first into a metal sign at high speed. Not so much as a scratch.
