My maiden voyage started out great. The boat handles as expected, plenty of power. Rooster tails. The problem starts when the motor stops without any warning. The esc allowed 3-4 quick pulses ar very low r.p.m.Not a good purchase for the money.

Do your research before you buy so you know how to take care of it.Boat does not come with the shaft greased out of the box. Make sure you do that and this boat will be awesome for you. If you don't, this may cause driveline vibration, squeaking, and sound unsettling. The run time is impressive at 4-5 minutes, I was expecting less since its a large motor and the boat goes VERY fast! If you do not run a voltage alarm, the esc is programmed to give you 3-4 quick pulses at very low r.p.m. to indicate your battery is done. The self-righting works perfect. Like any and most ALL rc boats, small amounts of water get in the hull. Doing your research will help you understand this is normal and not harmful. The receiver comes with its own sealed box. There are ways to waterproof the receiver, if you do your research.Doing your research will also help you understand that it's risky to hold down full throttle for the whole time. This will cause large amounts of heat, which can melt wires.Overall - this company knocked it out of the park, I love this thing!

I have two "fast" boats. This one is my favorite and will deliver the fun and speed you are looking for. But here are a couple of things to watch out for.1. The propeller shaft and stuffing tube come misaligned from the factory. You MUST fix that before you run the boat. Seach for “Sonicwake Propeller Shaft Misaligned” for details.2. A lot of people, me included, found the boat practically unresponsive when turning to port. The solution is to install a longer rudder.3. Use hatch tape – even though it has thumb screws on the hatch there is still a chance of water forcing its way under the canopy when you flip it (oh, yes you will flip it!). I learned that one after my canopy was ripped off despite the thumbscrews.Overall, a nice boat, not perfect but close. Oh yeah, if you don’t have an infrared thermometer, get one – they’re cheap. You really must monitor the temperature of the ESC, motor, batteries, and stuffing tube to ensure you don’t fry something. And you will fry something if you run hard and don’t pay attention to those temps.

I like the size of the boat, and potentially the speed, but every time I get up to the mid-high speed range, I hear the driveline vibrating/squeaking so it doesn't make me feel like I should go any faster or something might break. I have reached out to Horizon hobby tech support to see if I'm just missing something. Also, it's advertised as a "Deep-V" hull, but in reality it's a pretty shallow Vee that doesn't do as well in choppy water as I would have hoped. The tradeoff being probably better flat water performance, but the lakes I use it on, it's always choppy. I haven't had to use the self-righting feature yet, so can't vouch for that.
