Well well well so I gave it two stars at the start. The cats didn't use it and I almost threw it away! NOW they use it all the time and don't use the water bowl any longer which I have now thrown away.It doesn't come out very well of the spouts, the water pressure is a bit low so it only comes out of one side. One of the plastic clips has shattered and it has several weird marks on it where the water has dried. At first the water went cloudy and needed cleaning UNTIL I saw one of the cats picking up dry cat food dropping it in it and then eating the dry food! I moved it away from the dry food and now it doesn't need cleaning all the time. Cats hey.I would say it is perfect for all cats, and cat side dogs of course. bigger dogs will just have to lower their heads a little that is all.Really it should be 4 out of 5 because of the clip breaking and the power of the pump and weird angle of water coming out of just one side but hey I would buy it again.

Had this over 3 years now............. previous review below. Its still going and I've only had to replace the pump once. Pump very underpowered and you only need a bit of debris to reduce things to a dribble. Foam filter round the pump blocks fairly quickly but you can rinse it out under the tap to get more life out of it. People complain about the black plastic clips..................... never had a problem with them. Easy to assemble so can't see how people seem to have problems. I find rainwater quite good for putting in it as -there's no limescale to come out of it and coat the components. Overall...not bad....... stronger pump needed is the main problem. The charcoal filters seem terrible as they block so quickly............. I just run it without the filter. I've looked for alternatives but they all seem to have problems of one sort or another.Well had this for 18 months so thought I'd rewrite the review and bump it up one start to 3 The cats enjoy drinking from it but the charcoal filters are a huge expense as they get blocked very quickly and the flow reduces significantly after a week and needs changing to keep a decent flow. Ended up not using the charcoal filters. The sponge filters that go round the pump are very expensive............ get them on Ebay for a pittance from China........ they tend to be slightly loose where they cover the pump intake so cut a small piece of an old filter and tuck it behind the new filter opposite the intake so it pulls it tight over the intake. The whole thing takes about 10-15 minutes to thoroughly clean................ you don't need to do every week.......... just when the flow starts reducing significantly...................... what you do need to do is change all the water every few days.............. just unplug it.... tip it into the sink and then just refill from the tap.... a 2 minute job but really needs dooing every few days to keep the water fresh. Al in all, its been quite successful and all of our 3 cats drink from it regularly.......... one from the spout... the other 2 from the surrounding bowl. Would have given it a higher rating but the charcoal filters are a joke, the genuine sponge filters are overpriced, and the pump could really have done with a bit more power....... we only have the single spout in operation and the flow is just acceptable........... I'd say using one of the multiple spouts would not be very successful as the water would just dribble out.

UPDATE: I have had this water fountain for 3 years now (bought it in May 2018) and it has been in constant use since day 1. It survived a couple moves and my cat still loves using it. Every time I take it apart to clean it is the time when he is suddenly dying of thirst and just sits there waiting for me to put it back on the kitchen counter refilled with water.I've read the other reviews, sure it is annoying that you have to clean all the little bits, but that's the same with most pumps. It's just something you gotta do if you want it to last / you want your pet to be able to drink fresh water. It's incredible how quickly the kids gunk builds up. I actually change the water almost every day which tackles the cleaning problem - then I clean the pump once a week.I still have the original parts of the fountain, using the same pump. It does look a bit worn now - I have yet to figure out how to get rid of the limescale on the plastic parts. Not long ago I noticed two dots of rust on the base inside. I am pretty sure I was the cause of it while cleaning it with something I shouldn't have used. But still. This fountain has been going strong for 3 years.---------------------------------------------This is a very well made, quality drinking fountain. Obviously it's on the expensive side, but I was looking for something that is not made out plastic. (Most of the drinking fountains out there are made out of plastic and you can't be sure whether they are BPA free or not.) It is quite big, but my cat doesn't seem to mind, he likes taking his time, figuring out which little stream to choose to drink from... XD It is really quiet, I keep it in my bedroom (as we sleep with out door closed and the cat with us of course) and most of the times I forget it's there (you just have to keep the water-level above minimum -- the only time it makes a sound is when it doesn't have enough water in it). I'm a little bit worried about the plastic parts, will see how long those will last - will update on this later.

Works great like our previous Drinkwell Platinum fountain, chose this one as it's far more hygienic and resistant to hard water build up (some animals can develop allergies to plastic). The design is a little bit flimsy and not too appealing with it's size and could definitely be improved upon but in spite of that still performs well. Keep in mind it requires two replaceable parts (The filter and the sponge around it, although that can last some months more). Also it's a little bit noisier than the Platinum, a silicone feeding mat underneath helps. We had to choose this particular design because our three cats are very fussy about the water actually flowing out and not just sliding down like some of the other fountains out there.
