In contrary to what the title says, this enclosure is - fortunately - not made of stainless steel. Fortunately, because it would be very heavy if it were. It is made of brushes aluminum.What you need to know before your buy is:1. Old-fashioned full-depth optical drives do not fit. It is designed for modern reduced-depth optical drives.2. Even though the enclosure is equipped with a USB 3.0 type B jack, this enclosure is not bus powered. I will only work with an external power adapter, which is supplied with it.

Sehr hochwertig verarbeitetes Gehäuse. Ideal geeignet für die Verwendung von internen Bluray-Laufwerken an einem Notebook oder Computer ohne 5.25 Zoll Schacht.

I only just got this but I'm impressed so far. Installing a drive into the enclosure was very easy. The enclosure itself feels VERY high quality and it blends in nicely into a home theatre or living room setting.If I had a complaint it would be that the USB cable is super short, like 2ft or so. It's also rather expensive but the quality is very high at least and it looks great in my opinion. Also something to note is that it will only fit drives that are no longer than 6.5 inches. The LG WH16NS60 I installed in my goes right up to the PCB in the back of the enclosure. My really old Blu-Ray was over 7 inches and would not have fit in this. Just keep that in mind before buying and look up the dimensions of your drive before buying this.

I am hopefully going to save you some time and frustrations with this review. Between the "ICY BOX IB-525-U3" option and the "OWC Mercury Pro 5.25", the OWC Mercury Pro is a far better product.I initially purchased the "ICY BOX IB-525-U3", which worked OK, but the USB port broke on me after a few weeks of use.After this, I decided to spend a little more on the OWC Mercury Pro, which turned out to be a very good choice. The quality of this product is so much better.. The cables and power supply are of really good quality too. The chassis is solid and the the vibration dampening mounting system makes the drive silent.It is so much better than the alternative.The only "problems" I see with this product is the short power cable and USB cable included in the box.You can purchase a new longer cable easily, but it's an additional cost.BE AWARE: Not all drives will fit inside of this chassis. It fits an Asus bw-16d1ht perfectly.

Das Produkt fühlt sich hochwertig an.Leider ist es 1-2cm zu kurz.Mein Blueray Brenner von Pionier war zu lang.. Typenabhängig. Der Versand war schnell es gab aber Probleme mit DHL und den Zollpapieren, da diese laut DHL nicht vollständig waren und sie dafür eine Gebühr wollten.

Ich habe dieses Gehäuse gekauft für das Plextor PX-891SAF CD-/DVD-ROM Laufwerk. Dieses wird in der Beschreibung mit einer Einbautiefe von 17,8 cm veranschlagt, aber tatsächlich ist es fast 8 mm kürzer, so daß es gerade in dieses Gehäuse (bis 17,2 cm) paßt. Wie anderweitig berichtet, ist die Einbautiefe ein wunder Punkt und immer genau zu beachten.Ästhetisch ist das Gehäuse, finde ich, kein Glanzstück, aber es ist gediegen und zweckmäßig. Es wurde von Irland aus verschickt; der Versand wird somit etwas mehr Zeit nehmen als gewöhnlich (in meinem Fall sechs Tage).Im Lieferumfang enthalten sind außer dem Gehäuse selbst 12 identische Schrauben, 4 Füße, ein Universalnetzteil mit Eurostecker-Einschub und ein 60 cm langes USB 3 Verbindungskabel.Zwei Stecker kommen von der im Chassis montierten Platine und werden an das Laufwerk angesteckt, das dann mit 8 Schrauben in Gummi (wirksam gegen Vibrationen) aufgehängt und fixiert wird. Chassis und Außenhülle werden zu einer Einheit verbunden mit den übrigen 4, durch die Füße gesteckten Schrauben. Die Konstruktion ist einfach und funktional, der Zusammenbau dürfte auch technisch noch weniger Begabten als mir keine Schwierigkeiten machen.Das komplette Gerät kostete mich das Vier- oder Fünffache von externen Laufwerken, wie sie auch von Amazon angeboten werden. Ein Schnäppchen ist es also nicht. Wer aber, wie ich, ständig Probleme hatte beim Rippen seiner audio-CDs, dürfte mit dieser Kombination zufrieden und glücklich werden.

Ich habe meinen DVD-Brenner(ex PC-Componente) in die Hülle eingebaut. Jetzt ist das Ganze ein optisch ansprechender externer DVD-Brenner, den ich überall mit hinnehmen, bzw. ausleihen kann, wenn die Kinder für ihr Laptop ohne DVD-Laufwerk, so ein Gerät benötigen. Lieferzeit sollte unbedingt großzügig kalkuliert werden. Irland ist eben doch ein bischen weiter weg, vor allem über die stürmische Nordsee. Verarbeitung ist gut, Preisleistung - könnte etwas preiswerter sein, aber sonst alles ok.

このページや公式ページではUSB 3.0と書かれているが、これは旧称。現在で言ところの「USB 3.2Gen 1x1」で、転送速度は 5Gbps。パイオニアの光学ドライブは、ネジの位置が合わない。だがテープなどでしっかりと固定すれば、問題ない。現在の価格は7,299円で、この1年で3千円以上も価格が下がった。

I've had several optical drives from old Mac Pro systems and thought this would be a good companion for a Mac Pro. And it is, it looks great on top of a Mac tower case, it blends in. It's not meant to be portable - with an optical drive inside it, it weighs just over 3 pounds, and just over 2 pounds empty; it's meant to look great on your desk or shelf. Very solid construction, no sharp edges or other manufacturing issues. I knew it would come with a US power adapter only but luckily it works with 100-240V and it's the bog-standard barrel jack. It says it's USB 3.2 but I couldn't verify because I don't have any bluray drives that would saturate the USB bandwidth. I know I can burn DVDs at maximum speed.

Meine Verwendung: Einbau eines älteren Light-Scribe DVD-Laufwerks, welches nur für diesen Zweck verwendet wird und im Tower keinen Platz mehr fand. Als externes USB-Laufwerk ist es dann auch am Laptop verwendbar.Die Verarbeitung ist einwandfrei. Sehr stabil aus ALU mit allem Nötigen zum Einbau eines externen SATA-CD/DVD/BD-Laufwerks. Mit dabei sind ein 12V/ 3A-Netzteil, ein USB-3 Kabel, die Befestigungsschrauben, 4 Silikonfüße und eine Kurzbeschreibung. Die Befestigung des Lauwerks wird in Gummitüllen gelagert, so daß es beim Zugriff auf das Laufwerk keine Resonanzgeräusche gibt. Es wurde einfach an alles gedacht - ich kann das Gehäuse nur empfehlen, der Preis ist für diese Qualität voll in Ordnung.
