As you can see from my screenshot, I've used a M.2 A+E KEY Slot To M.2 NVME Adapter Card so I can install truenas on a 2230 plugged into the wifi M.2 slot. This means I can use all four NVMe in a RAIDZ1 configuration. As you can see by the screenshot with my laptop, everything registers fine. But to be honest it is just slightly too snug in there for the adapter. It doesn't quite fit naturally, but you can give it words of encouragement... No issues, everything just worked first try.I sourced my own RAM and NVMe drives, so I just bought the bare-bones kit with an Intel N305 CPU. There's a newer N355 out now, but I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost. The main appeal here is the price-point and after looking at many DIY options, I'm very pleased with the value. I did a lot of shopping around before settling on this.Four lanes of PCIe Gen 3 are being shared across the NVMe drives. I've set LAGG across the 2 by 2.5 GbE. I haven't tested the speed of read/write across the network yet, but when I do I'll try to remember to update this review. UPDATE: I used LACP and it worked fine. My router only has 1 GbE ports so the speed was limited by this rather than the NAS.There's thermal pads included for the NVMe bay, and the lid is a solid metal heatsink. They also provide a fan that fits on top, but I've not added this as I think it's not going to get that hot and I'd rather keep the noise level down since it's sitting on my desk. UPDATE: temperature of the NVMe was around 40 celcius. Internal fan is inaudible from across the room, it's not having to work that hard!Five stars, can't fault it at this price. Well packaged and speedy delivery considering it travelled the world to get here. A big step up from my raspberry pi nas! Definitely going to feel more relaxed now there's some RAID redundancy.
