These things are working great on my truck camper. I installed them on my fresh water and grey water tanks since the stock 4 led level indicators were no longer accurate. The best part about these sensors is there's nothing that goes inside the tank so you don't have to worry about them getting gummed up with sludge or other buildup. They're also a lot more accurate than the four led sensors most RVs come with. On top of that, they integrate easily with the Victron Cerbo GX unit I already have installed so I can monitor my water level through my Victron portal and setup alerts and other fancy features, if I care to. The Mopeka app is fine and gets the job done. Maybe not the most intuitive or configurable but certainly gets the job done. Installation was about as easy as can be expected considering you have to get to the bottom of your tank. I pulled the panel off of the bottom of my truck camper which gave me easy access to clean the tank and attach the mounting brackets. I've read some reviews about the battery life being a bit disappointing, and even if it's fantastic, I don't want to have to eventually open up the bottom of my camper again to replace the batteries, so I opened up each sensor and soldered on two wires to the battery connection so I can eventually wire in an external battery or 3 volt power supply. Of course, that voids any warranty, but I'm willing to take that chance. So far, so good. I'm quite pleased and would recommend these to anyone who wants more accurate water sensors, as long as you can get to the bottom of your tanks.

Installed unit with little effort. Programmed both my wife and my phone easily. The water sensor worked as described. Would not hesitate to recommend and buy this product again.

So, like most plastic RV water tanks that are exposed on the bottom, mine bulges a bit. But the instructions for installing the Mopeka Pro Check Water Sensor specify a flat, level surface, and the included mounting collar is designed to be flat-mounted. But there is a work around if the contours of your water tank are slightly uneven. This requires a mounting jig, and as it happens the materials for making one are not hard to come by. Circular plastic jar lids that have a 3¼ " interior diameter - a size that conforms precisely to the dimensions of the mounting collar, and a material that is easy to work with - are everywhere (just take a ruler into your pantry or to a nearby supermarket and see for yourself). Ok, bear with me here. Using a box cutter it's pretty quick and easy to scrape away at the plastic edges of the skirt of the lid and create a jig that can seat flush against the contours of almost any 3¼" diameter spot on a typical RV water tank.Place the Mopeka mounting collar (without the sensor or retainer ring) onto your jig, prep the area on the water tank and press-fit the collar so that it flexes over the contours and the 3M tape seats uniformly onto the tank (experiment with this before pealing off the protective strip on the 3M tape). IMPORTANT: 3M tape alone is not an adequate adhesive for a flexed mounting collar, but epoxy putty certainly is. So, a second pair of hands may be needed to hold the jig firmly in place while epoxy putty is applied at points around the flange of the mounting collar (NOTE: Be sure to keep epoxy putty away from the latch points on the sides of the mounting collar where the clips of the retainer ring will eventually attach!). Epoxy putty does need time to set up, so whoever is holding the jig in place may need to be patient for quite a while. However, if the bottom of your water tank just happens to have nothing between it and the pavement beneath but open air, then there is a much better way to hold the jig and mounting collar firmly in place. Read on.If your water tank, like mine, is mounted to the undercarriage of your RV, consider using a jack to apply mild but constant pressure against the jig and thus hold the collar firmly in place while the epoxy putty is applied and allowed to set up for several hours.Wrapping this up, when I removed my jack next morning and placed the Mopeka sensor (with dielectric grease applied per Mopeka's instructions) into the slightly warped mounting collar, I immediately began seeing accurate water level readings on the app. The retainer ring is somewhat flexible and it easily snapped securely into place.Road trip / trial run coming up. Not expecting problems, but will update this review if there is anything to report.Update: Just returned from a 500 mile road trip along the California coast during which the Mopeka water sensor performed without without a hitch. The graphic display on the smart phone app accurately showed percentage of water remaining and it updated frequently. NOTE: Your rig must be stationary, level and stable to get reliable readings. Also, a quick shout-out for "Jonathan" at Mopeka tech support who has been both patient and helpful in fielding my questions. I did give the product four stars instead of five because the instructions failed to address the challenges of curved mounting surfaces, which is typical of plastic RV water tanks. Hopefully Mopeka has addressed this.

The factory installed tank monitor started failing for the Gray water tank. Was intermittent but now is stuck at 1/3. Uses external sensor, not though the tank. Tried multiple times to clean the tank with no change. Was looking at a more expensive solution but that would have required a lot of work to neatly replace the LED level indicators.I had already installed a Mopeka LP tank sensor and that works very well, and appears to track the LP usage quite well.Found that I had just enough access to the bottom of the Gray water tank to install the Mopeka water sensor so decided to give that a try.Installation was pretty easy.I tested by adding 12 gallons of water to the empty tank.Configuring the tank height to the actual value gave a bogus reading. The tank height is about 7" but I had to tell the Mopeka app that it was 12" to get close to the expected reading.Mopeka support was very responsive, and we tried a couple of things with no difference. They suspect that the sensor is defective so they sent a replacement. So high marks for excellent customer service.I think that it more likely might have something to do with the thickness of the tank in our motor home, but we will see if the new sensor makes a difference.I didn't have time before our recent trip to install the replacement sensor, so I'll be doing that soon. But the existing sensor with the tank height set to the larger value appeared to work well on the trip. So, overall, quite happy with the solution. It would be nicer if there was a monitor panel that reads out in percentages like the smart phone app, but the only monitor panel they currently have just uses LEDs so that is not as nice as the phone app.I my case I would not be able to use a Mopeka sensor on the fresh water tank as it sits flat on the floor under the bed.I would certainly purchase again if I needed another one in the future.
