it works well for me. I have it set up in a Proxmox server. passes through just fine. Configuration was a little difficult thanks to my ISP's max speed. and the fact they wont let me take the fiber straight into it. I have to pass an onboard GBE NIC to the Virtual GBE NIC, one is present through the PCIE slot, from the Proxmox server. In Proxmox it presents as four NICs. Two GBE and two 25Gig. I have one 25gig to a cisco switch. The other to another server. Only downside is server must be an always on system.

On the CCR2004-1G-2XS-PCIe there's a fan to move air and keep it cool. Unfortunately, on the unit that we have received, this fan when rotating rubs its blades against the heatsink fins around it which makes a loud and unpleasant noise. This does not appear easily user serviceable so we returned as defective.

You have to find the fine print. This is not compatible with Windows at all, only some flavors of Linux. I purchased this to use for a windows server with hyper-v VMs on it, and I am NOT going to pass the device through to a virtual machine to get it to be useful...I can think of more than 20 ways that could go wrong.
