Unfortunately, after many weeks of trying (because I thought I was doing something wrong) - I never got this to work. I don't know why. Was it me? Honestly, I can't be sure.

I'm using this antenna in a lab where I need very precise time signals. Because I'm not close to outside, finding an antenna that does a great job with weak signals was important to me.This antenna came exactly as shown and had a 3-meter (just under 10 foot) cable. I gave it a quick test with my little GPS module and it received enough satellites for a time signal. (This is a little iffy with my lower profile rectangular style antenna.) So far, so good.To see if the antenna really was an improvement I ran the GPS with some diagnostic software (u-center) and watched the signal strength and number of satellites as I switched back and forth between the slightly cheaper (and much more common) rectangular surface mount antenna and this model.Even though the raw antenna specs didn't look all that different, the reception difference was amazing. With the old antenna, I was getting ok signal strength and seeing 5 useable satellites. This antenna not only showed a noticeable increase in signal strength but allowed me to receive 12 useable satellites. Given that 5 is the minimum for a decent fix, the old antenna was too close to the edge for comfort. This one looks like it will give me the safety margins to work reliably as satellites come and go.The attached picture shows the strength and satellite status window from the u-center program. Remember, this is all while looking at the sky through a wood and shingled roof. I'm very happy with this antenna.
