I’ve read the other reviews on this item and do agree that the provided screws are inadequate. However, most screws that come with kits are made from junk steel and I honestly cannot remember not having to upgrade to better screws. I did ding a star for this as well. However, that being said, I was curious as to how the actual set performed. I have a porch that gets brutalized on its western exposure making too hot for use on sunny summer afternoons. In my quest on how to provide shade for the porch, I began searching for options. I had no idea how well the louvers would perform. So I built a mock up using scrap dimensional lumber, different screws than what were provided, and was quite pleased with the effectiveness of the louvers. The design worked exactly as it should. The overall look is fantastic. It was a simple build. Provides plenty of privacy. And, in my mind, was very reasonably priced. While I don’t think these are flimsy, they are not overly robust either. The question of durability will be answered after they are installed permanently.

Neat kit for making custom shuttered/ louvered panels! I have a few sets of these. This is the second metal set- which I've decided I Like better than the plastic type- personally. The instructions are good with this set - I feel ...better than the first set I ordered- or I just feel more comfortable with it this time around- easier to understand maybe after having done one already.... If your very handy and have ability to make precise cuts in length + enjoy doing these types of projects this will be fun and rewarding project. BUT EVEN IF YOU DONT have saws & so forth this is still A possible solution for you !! Even though I have the tools I chose to get my boards precut at Lowes for the first sets & I will again for these! - its eliminates me needing to drag the trailer out to lowes to get long boards I'm going to cut up anyway!! I'll save the trailering for projects that need long boards thank you! Getting your list together is easy with the instructions and measurements of your intended installation area. Coming home with precision cut boards is really nice and let's you get straight to the fun part of staining, assembly and erecting your panels(if your so lucky) and enjoying your shade and privacy faster! They go together easily with perfectly cut lengths. That makes this kit do-able even for apartment dwellers!! Don't give up on your dreams of a private & shady patio or whatever.... I am using these to create panels that will roll / hang- Still working on that part to block or expose to sun shipping container home exterior walls based on the seasons. In the winter I actually welcome the sun heating up the metal but need to block sun in fall - spring to reduce the cooling that is needed - shade cloth has been working pretty well .... but these will offer a nicer more finshed look and is ultimately more durable over time while also able to block wind etc.. overall these will provide more protection and privacy and versatility. Also I simply love the louvered wood look over the steel ! It's something I've seen done in energy efficient modular homes in magazines and really find I adore the look of the panels they were using as well as the concept. Consistently drawn to this looks - Finding these kits made my dream of incorporating these in my container home design possible !! SO YES I DO like them very much !! I do have a way to go before the finished panels will be installed - so for now these are getting stained, assembled and stored in my now crowded exterior doors holding area (all re-store finds that have been collected / repainted! ) recently I decided to add another container to the building after much debate 🤣 and acquiring large heavy timber truss for heavily discounted price ....so yeah.... it's little projects like this coming together that keep me inspired along the way ;) also help to envision the the finshed look and convey the plan to others since I'm terrible at drawing lol.. I do recommend these kits! They are a rewarding project when you need a win to keep the dream alive.. and can be customized for whatever YOUR project requires!

First off, I have a terrible habit of seeing something I like and immediately plotting how to get the same look for cheaper. So I’m used to getting a very budget friendly product and making it work for me. This louver kit is a great example. No way was I paying hundreds of dollars for a fancy cover/fence to hide my outdoor mini split condenser but that thing was super ugly and needed to be hidden. This kit was perfect for what I needed. A flexible (in terms of what material I used, the size, and the number of louvers) option that wasn’t going to break the bank. Let’s face it, the whole project could end up a huge FAIL so I didn’t want a huge investment. So I went in with eyes wide open and the experience of a million Amazon DIY adventures. Are the screws not the best, sure. Pretty much always the case and they have no way of knowing how you will use their product (ie: soft wood vs hard wood, etc) so I always plan on my own fasteners anyway. Other than that, I needed to close the louvers maybe twice a year so I am not really concerned about durability. Not done with the project but this kit is functional, a great value, and relatively easy to install. I’m pleased at the value for the price.

I needed to create some temporary privacy along a wall towards my neighbors house. I had seen these used in similar applications and the price was really good on this kit. If I had to do it again, I would spend a few more dollars and try to get a kit a little more well built.The hardware is decent enough, but I ended up getting different screws that better fit my application. They just seemed a little chintzy. Everything moves and functions as intended so maybe I’m being too harsh, but I do worry it won’t last.

Instructions on this are very poorly written. It should state that you need to build a frame for these and then install them in the opening. The frame has to be small enough for the connecting arms to be installed on the sides of the louvers. Also the screws are too long for using 3/4 frame material had to buy shorter screws and the screws for the connecting arms are too short. They barely grab the wood and pull out with minimal effort. Also had to buy new screws for this. I went with Size 6 x 7/8 wood screws.
