The concept of this tool is excellent. Cutting neat angles on pipework insulation is a nightmare, and gaps cause heat loss, which costs money in added bills. So, anything that helps create neat, tight insulation joints is welcome. So for, so good. It's the transition from concept to delivery that has been weak. The drawbacks of this tool are twofold: Firstly, it will only fit 13mm insulation, which is the thin stuff. Many people now like to use thicker insulation for lower heat loss. Secondly, and most important, is the material used. In my humble opinion, 3D printing this tool out of plastic was a mistake. It's liable to snap apart at the thin centre section, and is further weakened when you inevitably cut against the thin shoulder of plastic, while using the tool.If this tool was made of metal it would last a lifetime, and I'd be awarding five stars. It would be a lot more expensive no doubt, but I'd rather that, than repeatedly buying plastic things that keep breaking. If made of metal, it would be worthy of the "Pro" name.

Most pipe insulation is not 13mm thick. Be aware of this when buying to double check the wall thickness of the pipe insulation you can buy. Has too much space for most I insulation I use but does the work.

Despite a couple of not so good reviews I really like these cutting guides and have found them very useful. Ok they're not as robust as they need to be for constant trade use. When you're on site and got all your tools out it's not practical to constantly be putting stuff away when you're going to need it again in ten minutes time and working like this things often get trodden on and broken or bent. When these arrived I decided to get our small, round chainsaw file out and file some reliefs at the "V" points so to create a point that would let the cutting guide flex a little without cracking, reliefs are common engineering practice and if you ever got told to drill a hole at the end of a crack in plastic or metal to stop the crack travelling you'll understand what I've done here.So all in all the product has a couple of faults but I'm sure the manufacturer will soon be back with a MK2 revised version of this very handy tool, maybe made from Polypropylene or a similar tough but flexible plastic.4 out of 5 stars from me as the guides have been so handy for me so far.
