Having a large range of Makita batteries I bought this thinking it would be a great addition. Reading the reviews about it not being compatible with Makita batteries I thought I’d try it “just in case”.Well…. I can confirm unlike the sellers statement of it being compatible with a range of Makita batteries IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANY MAKITA 18v BATTERY RANGE. If like me you were drawn in by this statements in their add stating it is compatible, IT ISN'T! It only works on its own battery which gets incredibly hot in a very short period of time.It’s FALSE ADVERTISING. Would get no stars from me if I could.

When extended heavy to trim and locate on the small branches. Delayed action when pulling the trigger to cut, however gives a clean cut and records the number of trigger actions. Haven’t used it enough to give any further feedback.

Kit is supplied with 3.0Ah battery that is not compatible with Makita chargers, it can only be charged with the supplied charger. The other issue I had with the tools is that when mounted on the extension pole they work with standard Makita 5.5Ah batteries with no problem but neither will operate with the same Makita battery when used without the pole. As hand held tools you must use the supplied battery as neither tool would work with standard Makita batteries when plugged into the tool itself. It appears to be a physical issue in the the battery does not slide far enough into the tool.Other than that the tools work well, the chain saw made short work of a tree stump that I was trying to remove from the garden and one reason I was buying a small chain saw. I did have to tighten the chain after using it the first time but that is to be expected.The pruning tool cuts even small branches so much easier than using a manual tool.Had it worked with original Makita batteries as suggested in the write up I would have given a much better rating but one of the main reasons for choosing this make was the compatability with batteries I already had for other tools.

Great for the price and pleased I bought it. Does exactly what I needed to prune apple and other trees.Chain saw works when on pole but not with supplied battery plugged directly in it.Makita batterie work ok on pole but not on saw or pruner direct. Pruner light comes on but does not actuate with Makita. Not an issue for me as have other products that do this job.
