Full of great projects and big pictures for those of us who can't get enough of the work of John Pawson... great mix of old and new projects and lots of details, I love it!

Creators are judged by their works primarily and there’s no shortage of them in this classy volume. What’s missing for me is the psychology of Pawson himself. What in his own words were the pivotal experiences in his life? What was his thinking when he approached any of the multifarious projects shown here? However knowledgeable and qualified the author may be there’s no substitute for hearing directly from the source how such and such a process came about; the nitty gritty of the creative approach as it were. Other than that it’s an appropriately lovely overview of a great architect’s work. UPDATE Sep 23: There is an excellent mini doc on YouTube entitled At home with John Pawson Cotswolds which actually includes Pawson’s views on this book. He says that although he and the author have known each other for 40yrs he was surprised not to have been interviewed by the latter as ‘there were so many little things I had wanted to tell him’. His conclusion was that it is ‘an architectural biography rather than a life one’.
