much better than the standard one that comes with the lens, very firm and secure and fits directly onto your swiss arca compatible bull head.

It's kind of weird that Canon hasn't made this yet. Arca Swiss has been around quite a while now and it's pretty widely used it seems. It would only make sense that Canon would release official accessories for their lenses that make use of it. But they don't. So we have aftermarket products like these, thankfully. I have attached it to my lens just to make sure that it goes on there without issue and it fits like a glove. I'm not leaving it on there yet though because I plan on milling it to make it compatible with the Peak Design Capture. There's an idea for you guys. The construction of this replacement foot is actually very robust. All metal construction and feels very sturdy. They added some finger grooves on the top of the foot since they knew a lot of people would use these to carry or to lift the lens out of their camera bag. Kind of unnecessary to be honest, lol, but it's nice that they thought of that detail.Like the original foot, it has a threaded hole in the center for you to mount it to a normal tripod head without an Arca Swiss mount on it. My only recommendation is for them to use a metal sleeve for this part since aluminum is a fairly soft metal compared to the steel screws the tripod heads would have, so having it so you're screwing steel screws directly into aluminum threads constantly could possibly cause the threads to strip or wear after constant use. The reason why this isn't a big enough issue to warrant me knocking off stars is because the whole point of getting an Arca Swiss compatible foot is because you'll be using an Arca Swiss mount 99.9% of the time. The only time I can see myself using that screw mount is if for some reason I have to use someone else's tripod one day, which I don't really see that happening very often, if at all.The fit and finish, besides it feeling robust, is pretty nice. No unfinished sharp edges to worry about, the black finish looks very nice. It looks like there's a slot at the front that could be maybe used for some kind of strap or maybe for a lens cap leash, which is a good idea honestly. Most lens cap leashes would wrap around the lens body, but attaching it to the foot instead would have the lens cap hang lower and more out of the way while using the lens.

Just replaced the stock foot on my 100-400 with this one and I'm really pleased. It fit perfectly, the edges are all chamfered and smooth so no sharp spots. The foot fits all my Arca-Swiss style clamps without any wiggling or loose spots. The only thing people should be aware of is that it uses a linear bolt to secure it, unlike the Canon one which has loosening protection. Just check it for tightness periodically or use some Loctite Blue on the threads.A great product at a fantastic price.
