This book goes through all the steps, from the tools you’ll need to get started, choosing the right yarn, basic weaving and the more complex weaving techniques. It’s a great book to have in your fibre library.

From the new weaver, to the weaver who wants a little more from the experience, this book really opens up the potential of the rigid heddle loom. It begins with all the information that a beginner weaver needs, from selecting a loom, getting a warp on and starting that first weave, right up to finishing off and everything in between, including what to do if something goes wrong. There are plenty of good, clear photographs or diagrams on every page that give a clear demonstration each step of the way. From there on, the sky’s the limit! From jazzing up a plain weave with colour and yarn placement, to using finger manipulation techniques or a pick-up stick, from using one heddle, to using two, or even three heddles, this book has you covered. Not only does this book show you how to master many techniques, it also includes some beautiful patterns to start you on the road to discovering just what these looms can do. This book has something of every rigid heddle loom weaver!

Ensina a confeccionar tecidos nesse modelo de tear e outras informações importantes para o domínio da tecelagem. Um livro que vale a pena adquiri-lo porque é muito detalhista na forma de ensinar, alem disso explica todo o funcionamento das partes que compõem este tipo tear.

Having looked at several similar books on the craft of weaving, I decided on this one because of its excellent selection of colour photos and very clearly written instructions, which go through every stage of the weaving process. This book will present the aspiring weaver with more than enough inspiration with its numerous projects to try once the basic skills have been learned in the first section of the book.

I bought several books on rigid heddle weaving, so as to teach myself hiw to use my new loom. This is by far the best. It teaches you very badic things clearly (warping, e.g.), but also goes way beyond basics, showing you how to things on a rigid heddle loom that were once thought the province of more complex, machine-like looms.There are also some great tips not found in other books: for example, use a reed blind as a warp separator. This works so well, I’d think the book worth the price just for this.Unlike some of the other books on rigid heddle weaving, this has instructions for projects I’d actually want to make. Not least, it has a good index, so you can find what you need without endless paging.There are a lot of good reviews for The Weaver’s Idea Book, and that is definitely worth having—but if I had to limit myself to just one, it would be Mitchell’s.

Als Webanfänger habe ich mich nie wirklich an den SampleIt Rahmen gewagt... mit Hilfe dieses Buches ist die erste Kette und das erste Webstück schon mal gelungen, und man findet so viele neue Möglichkeiten, von denen man vorher gar nichts wusste!Empfehlenswert.

Ein wirklich schönes übersichtliches Webbuch für den Webrahmen für Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene zum Nachschlagen und Ideenholen.Sehr gute Bilder, klare Erklärungen, gut sortiert und wirklich alles zusammengefasst was man zum Start braucht und auch später noch mal nachschlägt.Erklärungen zu Webrahmen, Werkzeug, Zubehör, Farben, Webmustern, Material, Techniken und, und, und...Besonders gut finde ich die Lösungshilfen zu typischen Anfängerproblemen...das hätte ich mir damals als ich anfing auch gewünscht, hätte mir viele Fehler erspart...Von mit 5 Sternchen und 5 extra :o)

très bon livre de découverte sur le tissage avec un métier envergeur, que ce soit pour une personne expérimentée ou complètement débutante. Car pour l'une c'est une source d'idées à réaliser et pour la débutante c'es sont les gestes essentiels à intégrer. Bravo à l'auteur et au maquetiste c'est d'une lisibilité à toute épreuve ! In diesem Buch hat Syne Mitchell wirklich außerordentlich viele Ideen zur Arbeit mit dem Webrahmen zusammen getragen. Für einen Anfänger ist dies wohl das Buch, welches ich empfehlen werde.Gut strukturiert ist in diesem Buch alles zu finden. Welcher Rahmen hat welche Vor- und Nachteile, welches Garn kann für Kette und Schuss verwendet werden, welche Arbeitsschritte sind nötig vom Garn bis zum fertigen Stoff.Auch für geübtere Weberinnen bestimmt ein lesenswertes Buch, da sie sehr viele Mustermöglichkeiten, Techniken und auch das Weben mit mehreren Webkämmen beschreibt.Alles wird von sehr guten Fotos und Bildern begleitet.Einziger Nachteil: Das Buch ist, wie so viele andere gute Bücher, leider nicht in deutscher Sprache, sondern englisch. Wer allerdings mit englischen Texten keine Probleme hat, dem empfehle ich dieses Buch.
