This thing is awesome. It says for loose soil or sand, which I didn't try but in a typical yard, this thing will not budge. Rock solid, recommended.

When I finally got this product due to a mix up which was easily resolved, I had my son place it in the ground. I got the Soft Soil Surface Lock because I live in a flood zone and the ground can occasionally be...well, soft. The second great purpose of the Soft Soil Surface is that you may not have to remove the stake unit in order to mow or even weed eat around it. It was easily installed - please read the directions because it does "lock" into place. I've never seen a coil thicker or as sturdy as this one which will last my German Shepherd puppy as she grows. My puppy is able to maneuver around without getting tangled since the clip moves with the leash, and it only took her one day to realize the range of motion she has on it. I've been careful to only throw her toys within the circumference so she doesn't get hung up. Overall, this product is worth it's cost and if (easily) assembled correctly works great!

Unique design makes it perfect to install and use. Set up in 5 minutes. No concerns about strength to hold lunging Bernedoodle pup, currently 30 lbs and expected to reach 50-60 lbs. Visible in grass and low profile lowering risk of injury to people and running over with lawn mower.

I bought this as our dog is very reactive toward other dogs, and I don't trust that he wouldn't jump our fence. We bought two of these, together with a line which clips on each stake, we run the line through the handle of his leash, so he has a good 10 meters that he can play with in the garden, but we have peace of mind that if a passing dog surprises us, he'll not get away.For context our dog is a 23kg, very muscly staffy who has no qualms about flinging himself around like a lunatic at the sight of another dog. I would expect this would have no problems holding the strongest of dogs.I would say, I was worried about if it would hold given it rains a lot where we are and the ground can feel quite soft - borderline squishy at times, But I haven't had to use the soft ground attachment. I would imagine that would really only be necessary for very boggy ground or a sandy beach for example.

I purchased the version with the Beast Lock. This is just superb! It was easy to implant in the ground with its strong metal corkscrew (this will be subject to your ground). If your ground is very hard then choose to install when moist or damp (after rain) or wet the area and then leave to dry before attaching your dog (if a large strong dog). It locks solid and I applied a 10 metre lead to it for our Siberian Husky and he loves it too. I can highly recommend this product. It may be a bit dearer than alternatives BUT it is a quality item and mre than fit for purpose.
